    72 duster resto

I used a thing called a "nicopress sleeve" for that wire end application. Learned about them in some past general aviation experience. Bought the special pliers and used them a whopping once! Lol

Mine's a fancy slant and automatic... Wish it were stick... maybe someday... Not gonna lie- AC would be nice! Been kicking around the idea of this electric system- I do have enough alternator to power it...

Yep- this was my first time ever driving a manual steering car... Not bad once used to it!

    72 duster resto

Nice... I went with the 20:1 on my project and 99% of the time I don't mind the manual steering... That other 1% though! Would definitely want better if I were autocrossing or something, but just for cruising around, the simplicity is hard to beat.

Thanks! One of the guys from the weekend did put together a video of the Day 2 races.

    Scamp "Special" vs Scamp base

    Thanks! Neat to know!

    Scamp "Special" vs Scamp base

I've now been asked a few times what the "Special" badge on my Scamp means. I've seen when buying parts they list Scamp Special vs Scamp base, but I've not been able to find online what actually differentiates the two from each other. Anyone know?

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Great weekend! Drove down to Knoxville to participate in the Slant Six races. Awesome fun and a warm welcome from the group. The Scamp ran consistent 10.4X seconds in the eighth mile... I might be hooked now and want to work toward getting into the single digits...

I was there this morning and they announced dates for next year's event, so hopefully that's a good sign.

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Makes sense... I'll have to study that stock one I got as backup to see if I can figure out how much offset between rotor and mag pickup might be achievable.

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Cool. Def keep me posted on any success or lessons... Is there a thread here on your project?

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Not that I've been able to find yet... not saying there isn't, but I haven't found it.... I did talk with a tech guy at the DUI distributor place and the HEI one they make for the Slant is basically just a stock distributor with an hei module added to it, so nothing special as far as the rotor goes.

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

To further explain my confusion, the distributors I have been finding on other projects(non-slant) I've read about really have like an arc shaped contact inside the cap, so even if the rotor isn't exactly aligned with the plug wire terminal, it can still send spark. Mine just has a small round...

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

I see the conversation above, but to answer your question, I have made no further progress on timing control. I was previously thinking that the MSD6AL-2 programmable would get me there, but I'm having some difficulty in understanding how it will work because the locked out distributor I have...

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

What a spectacular night! Took a nice cruise up to the river and back of about 80 miles... about 75 degrees. Windows down. Radio up. THIS is what makes all the time, money, and effort worth it...

It's no wonder the Slant 6 is so great!

At the very few shows I've gone to, my current slant Scamp gets much more attention than the NA 360 Swinger I used to have years ago... As one of the posts above said, I'm having fun working to get it the best it can be.

Chrysler 300 seats in a Duster

Looks great! Happen to take any pics of said shaving of bench seat hump? And were you able to use the stock seat belts from the Duster or go to something else?

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Big car show in town here tomorrow so there is a bunch of downtown cruising tonight. Tuning was successful. Got 2 burnouts in. No cloud of smoke but I could smell rubber! Now I'm even more anxious to get the timing advanced!

Reverse Y exhaust pipe for Dutra Duals?

I got the one with the dual slip fit first. I think I may have been either the first sold fat-pipe or at least the first one that was going in an A-body. The one with the dual slip fit was too tall and ended up interfering with the steering cross bar. I took a bunch of pics and measurements and...

Reverse Y exhaust pipe for Dutra Duals?

I used the Gill Welding one. Beautiful piece. Make sure you ask for the A body specific one. These were from right after install before I hooked it to the rest of the exhaust.

I've enjoyed watching your progress but not had a lot to say. Wanted to tell you I had really good service from these guys for the shaft for my project. I kept the 904 and Slant but changed to an 8.75 and they did a good job and shipped quickly. Driveshaft Specialist Home

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Spoke with MSD today to get their guidance and then with the tuner again to review their recommendations. It sounds like that MSD 6AL-2 Programmable CD Box, another MAP sensor, and some more wiring should solve my issue. Probably try to order that stuff in the next few days and hope for the...

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Yep- it's not the update I was hoping for, but at least it's progress... I'll probably try to get MSD on the phone tomorrow when I'm not sitting there burning up hours with the tuner guy... I'm thinking maybe just maybe this might be the missing piece of the puzzle...

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

@TT5.9mag - Tagging you here since you'd asked for an update but didn't want to muddy up the other draw-through turbo thread with my progress... Had an appt with a tuner today. Spent the first good while working on fueling while driving on the street. It was apparently running pretty lean and...

    Draw through turbo slant

I wouldn't say disappointed but just hoping for a bit more...which will likely happen once I have the guy ride along. I have not done the timing table thing from the one video yet - mostly because, with this being my first real project, I don't really know what to watch/listen for to make sure...

    Draw through turbo slant

No- it seems to be running well. I've put probably 1500 miles on it since getting it going with one weekend being 700+... Its got quite a bit more pickup than it had before... Using a car timer app on my phone (so who knows how accurate, but probably not very), it seems my 0-60 dropped from...
