That's because they ARE two different things. The question is, which one does YOUR car have? 1967 from the factory has the first — the narrow lockstrip. Is that what your windshield gasket looks like? For future reference, if you are asking questions on this forum, tell us the year, make and...

Things Change.. Butters is now getting a 392

Agreed. Just did mine on my 8.8 and it was a PITA. What method did you use to connect to the factory cables? I had to fab some mounts to use the soft lines and even then they had to bend pretty sharp to point in the right direction. Only other option was to put them between the Ubolts. Sucks...

    Speedmaster head hypothetical

The book is Horsepower Chain. 45 deg seats have more curtain area at low lift than 50 degree seats and should always outflow the 50s at 0.050", 0.100" and usually 0.150". A tighter throat 'may' choke off 0.050" flow a little but it will help 0.100" and 0.150" flow because it helps the high...

It's pretty simple, do you have windshield moulding clips for a '68 up style stainless trim or just the rubber gasket that I show VERY clearly in the link provided in post #4.

    VR-200’s…… AGAIN…….

I don't have flow numbers or air speed. But with a Crower 31409 cam and 11.2 compression you can make 680 hp with the Bloomer heads.

Stock '68 GTS 340" pinion angle question

I believe the spring perches on stock A-body housings position the pinion pointing 5* upward.

I see 2 different things but is hard to tell by looking at the pictures. One is a thin trim that locks into the molding but doesn't cover it completely. The second one i see covers the entire molding and fits flush into the body

What's on your "to do" list for this winter on your race car?

On the dyno, my 440" W5 street engine made 644hp and 585 ft torque with the M1. 655 hp and 602 ft torque with the indy. Both un ported just gasket matched.

I know there’s epoxy in the bowls so you do have to deal with that. You are making my point. The curtain area is smaller with a 50 degree seat. So you are shrinking the bowls (or a better way to say it is keeping the bowls smaller as a percentage of the valve size) so when I see gains in low...

Stock '68 GTS 340" pinion angle question

I believe there is an angle built in to the perches on the housing. I get the following. With the center section of the housing plumb, the perches are 5 deg I took photos with the housing upside down So with the housing perches level the center section mounting surface would be leaning...

What's on your "to do" list for this winter on your race car?

I tried both the dual carb tunnel ram set up and the single carb/Indy port matched intake this past season and there was very little difference in ET/MPH between the two. I've had the M1 W5 intake sitting around for over a year now so I'm going to give it a try. If I don't like it I'll put the...

    Speedmaster head hypothetical

Single blade cutters. The throat is now epoxy which does not hold an edge as well as the steel would. Just curious. Why do you pick out the 50 deg seats as being bad at low lift. The 45 deg seats should be better than the 50 at low lift. And a smaller throat will help low lift flow on a 50...

The 50. Look at your low lift numbers. Are you using a cutter or stones to do the seats? Edit: I forgot to mention your high lift numbers. Or mid to high lift anyway. I care far far more about the shape of the curve over .25 l/d than I do low lift flow numbers. For me, testing low lift (lets...

The consensus seems to be SEMS Hot Rod Black or John Deere flat black. Do a search for "black hood paint" in the body forum, there's lots of threads on this.
