    Howard's or Lunati

Why? My thinkin is the 318 is down on cubes and the bump in cylinder pressure from the 108....or even a 106 that I would consider would be of benefit. Splain what I'm missin pleeze.

    Howard's or Lunati

I'd do the exact opposite. THe 110 will lose torque and gain hp. 360 will make more torque than the 318 with the same cam. THe 108 will also help raise his cylinder pressures.

    Stroker advice

I was wanting to keep my automatic trans but I will swap to manual if needed It would just factor into the engine cost. I rebuilt the auto a few months back after I burned it up with better clutches. I just want around 450 horsepower. And I want the tires a lot more meaty.

    318 For Fun

Well, at least you got it right with the cam! Howards Cams, Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft, Chrysler SB 273-360/318, 208/214 @ .050, .479/.494, 110 LS - Competition Products I would probably order one while the ordering is good. Last time I checked, cam cores weren't exactly raining out of the...

Stock 318 2 Barrel Cam Choice

I like that .464/.464 cam, since it'll never really see the high side of 5600. Thanks for the suggestions!

    273 Commando Engine Build

I am hopefully about to be purchasing a 273 Commando engine that I plan on installing into a 65 Barracuda Formula S. I plan on doing a complete restoration on the Formula S, but I want to do some engine upgrades to the Commando engine such as Cam, Heads, Intake. I know alot of people are going...

My eyes bled out, I'm in tears from your AJ like post. :D

    318 heads

Use what ever head you have. If I had to choose from the verity of 318 heads ready to run on a table, it would be 302’s. Use a piston that can get you some good quench. That might be a problem with the various cc amount of the 318 heads. Generally there all a closed chamber. The stock cam is...

    Scream'n 318 ?

I'd almost go .525 or more lift if it's a solid lifter cam. Heck my 318 magnum dirt track engine was going to get a .550+ lift hydraulic cam that Jim at Racer Brown custom specced, it's for pretty much a bone stock 318 with pistons flipped, home head porting and a good airgap/stromberg wwc 2...

318 4 bbl and intake upgrade

People dont talk about these much but they really wake up a stock 2 bbl 318, and you use your stock cam and intake manifold. Saves a lot of tear down with good results for those that want a simple performance boost without opening up a can of worms. Edelbrock 1406 is jetted perfect for the...

    Stroker 340>416 Build Advice

3.55’s on 26 inch tires destine to cruise on the Hwy. OK then! We are getting somewhere! Basic cam Ed; The duration will dictate the rpm in which the cam is designed to operate the engine. There’s advertised duration and duration @.050, which is the compare standard in which to compare various...

All for .370 lift and under ........

Sorry coach, duration. Basically an "RV" cam but today the shelf cams tend to be ground with either 110° or 112° LCA. According to David Vizard's 128 formula to calculate cam LCA and considering a 1.88" intake valve, optimum for the stock stroke 318 would be about 105° LCA. Idle may be a bit...

Replacement 68 340 four speed cams

The problem George is that those durations are only useful for comparing with other Chrysler cams. We've discussed this in some threads with @Wyrmrider @crackedback and maybe @krazykuda Chrysler, even in their promotional stuff and DC tech bulletins always put that out there. They never realy...

    5.2 Magnum Build

Change the heads, for 2 reasons...195k so the guides n exhaust are toast and 2 they don't flow all that well on today's terms. Carb and headers. Done. The cams are decent in the 318 ,like .432 or so on the intake and .441 exhaust, the rt cam is a .436/.444 lobe. I have one and measured it to...

    Cam Selection 360

When I first used the 360-2 cam in a 318, I looked like and hard at the comp 252 and the stock 360-2 cam specs the stock cam in a few years worth of Mopar factory service manuals and specs found in catalogs both paper and online versions (such as summit/jegs websites) and it's been a while...

    318 compression test results

well, heads are critically important to gas mileage, performance, and quick starts. On any engine! A guy can throw all the cams, headers, and 4bbls they want at a 318 but if the valves are leaking and some cylinders are down to dead (like 90 psi), it isn't going to do much.

New 318 build, just need some input.

There has been a bunch of good advice merely mentioned in the previous threads. Brief mentions often get glossed over. First, I want to repeat the great advice already given merely to reinforce the importance. MOPAROFFICIAL suggested using Magnum heads. Box stock they will out-flow a really...
