Update! The 'Cuda is out for alignment and should be ready to drive tomorrow. So far, all looks good for it to be finished early next week. Will update after I see the car tomorrow. Maybe a video.

...UCA’s are not something I’d run. Their reputation is pretty lousy. SPC UCA’s are double adjustable and use a much better design than the Magnumforce double adjusters. @BergmanAutoCraft sells them. Not cheap but very easy to use and you can dial in pretty much any alignment numbers you want.

Pretty sure basic alignment won't fix it. I checked everything and there is not enough adjustment at all without changing parts. I've ordered some spc adjustable uca's to replace the qa1s (which are just tubular not adjustable). Hopefully this shop can set it up properly.

Bob, with as many alignment problems as you have encountered, is it possible the car is twisted out of shape because of no frame connectors, or maybe it was wrecked "hard" and then put back together? I'm just curious because of all I've read about you misadventures.

The off set is 1 1/4 . We have a long fixture that slides through the timing cover and out of the tailshaft of the trans to set pinion angle . Proper location of the engine side to side is important for drive shaft alignment. Use thicker mount bisquets if needed. slant six or 80's truck

The ends need to be "clocked" right in relation to each other cuz the hoses don't "twist" very well for clearance around various accesories. I've had to take couple back for adjustment cuz you can't just twist the ends in the hose for alignment.

If they're both in and clips installed, you should be fine. These cars were never built with exact precision. If the alignment is in specs, you're golden.

Remember the other slot under the distributor body. I had to play with both tooth alignment and that slot to get the adjustment I needed with leeway both ways

This is a question only. So your saying that if the heads are milled 0.050" and the deck surface is milled 0.012" and a thinner head gasket is used that this doesn't affect port alignment at all?

Very true! The tolerances on these cars were pretty darn loose, even at the suspension points. The factory didn't care as long as they could get the alignment within their fairly generous window for alignment specs. And that was before 50+ years of wear, tear, and rust.

do you have an 18 spline alignment tool? i will never go in without that stabbed up in there before you put pressure plate on a real input shaft would be your best bet. if you have one of those plastic ones maybe its old and twisted a bit
