Fitech Dual Quad fuel plumbing with return line

Got sick of my carbs being out of tune and not finding anybody with expertise to tune them without half a year of waiting here in Finland and finally bought the dual quad set. I have experience with EFI systems (megasquirt) from my earlier Porsche 924 Turbo, but this kind of dual throttlebody...

Fuel pressure dropping while driving and under acceleration to zero at idle runs 4 lb electric Blue

What do the instructions say for the regulator you are using? Some of these regulators were designed so the return line was the restriction. If you sized the return line bigger than what was called for then you wouldn’t have any fuel pressure. That’s what you need to figure out.

    Carb Heat Soak

Installing the heat insulator gasket this week to see if it helps. Another question for everyone, has anyone ever wrapped their fuel lines in the engine with heat insulator? Does it help? I want to exhaust all easy routes before doing a vapor return line if all else fails.

    Fuel Cell

It would probaly be cheaper to put a fuel cell in it. But a place called tanks Inc makes a fuel tank for your car. https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=481/category_id=68/mode=prod/prd481.htm

    Will this fuel tank work?

Early A ('66 and earlier) had the bottom stamped for a single crosswise (frame to frame) support strap. They also utilized a smaller fill tube. '67 and later used two longitudinal support straps, and were stamped for such. They also used a larger diameter fill tube, and as noted, various...

    68 dart gas tank leak

...gasket, I Pro sealed mine, it's a 2 part fuel tank sealer. Used on seams or you fill in the blank. The part can be separated with a heat gun if necessary. Don't expect to ever have to go in there again in my lifetime. Unless that car has fuel injection, it should not have a fuel return...

Poor hot idle caused by ethanol gas? Whaddya think?

Install a return after the fuel pump as they did on all 80's mopars using a fuel filter with a return built in with an extra nipple on the side. You will have to run a 1/4 inch line back to the tank. They sell a fuel pick up with a return outlet or you can use a awl and punch a hole in the...

Fuel pressure dropping while driving and under acceleration to zero at idle runs 4 lb electric Blue

Thats a smoking deal. Just remember if you can’t get the fuel pressure down with that pump it means your return line is too small for the fuel you are burning. IOW’s, you are bypassing more fuel than the return line can support. You don’t want the return line being the restriction. Just the...

Just as slow as before my mods..

Looks like your tank is an aftermarket one, in the earlier pics I thought I could see the sending unit on the top of the tank, if it is in the factory location it should be visible in the pic from the right side. Way too many fuel lines in close proximity to the differential for my liking...

    64 Dart 273 Engine Vacuum

OK, now I have disconnect the fuel line at the carb and crank the car. The fuel looks like it is not having a problem being pumped and has good flow. It will not run very well and to not start and run. I think when trying to get it to start and run I poured gas down carb but did not work

Done I guess on mockup of Pro Dominator intake. I am gonna bag it until car is ready. Got fuel line/linkage to "work". They do not want to work together. Came up with throttle cable bracket and return spring/bracket.

ADDING A RETURN LINE TO AN OEM NON-EVAP FUEL SYSTEM QUESTION

I have a friend who helped me with adding a return nipple to my 65 Valiant years ago. We removed the tank made sure it was completely empty and filled it up with water and he brazed it right on. I could have brazed it myself, but he's a danged artist and his welds looked slap factory. lol

    Hard starts after running

My 71 340 Duster . I went to a car show after sitting there all day car fired up and I drove to an Ice cream stand up the street close to home I sat there for about 20 minutes and the sub started going down. I went to start it and it would not start . What I notice is the fuel pump was not...

There are hard lines connected to the tank side that then go to both pumps.

Stop in for a cup of coffee

That's a real pickup. :) One tube is not factory. LOL. Some did have a return line but I'm not aware of any with two pickups. Typical arrangement is a short rubber hose connecting the fuel pickup to the fuel line. Why was there a hose ?? I would not expect flex between the chassis and the tank...

Fuel pressure dropping while driving and under acceleration to zero at idle runs 4 lb electric Blue

So I took the return line off and plug the regulator where the return line goes. I turned on the fuel pump and it takes about 30 seconds or longer and barely makes it to 11psi with the 19 PSI spring in the pump. I guess that tells the story.

[SOLD] Early A Fuel Tank with Sump + Extras

This started as a brand new fuel tank and then I added the sump. Sump has 2x 3/4” NPT female bungs. Tank is clean and rust free. I’m including the tank strap/bolt and sending unit with 1/2” pickup. I used the sending unit as my return line for my turbo FI setup. $200, shipping included to...

    Manifold Vacuum Experiment

Another update. I haven't calculated mileage, mainly because I never have and there's really no point, because I wouldn't have a concrete base line to compare to. That said, I can tell there's been a big improvement in fuel mileage doing this mod. I did this back in February. Now, understand, we...

    64 Dart 273 Engine Vacuum

If the engine runs for 20 seconds, with the throttle at a more or less a normal position, then I would NOT suspect a jumped chain. I would suspect, 1) a non-vented fuel-tank, or 2) a perforated jumper hose, probably at the back, between the sending unit and the main supply line.. When this...

    EFI Fuel System

'72 and up A-bodies used a return-type system with a 3-tube fuel filter to help eliminate vapor-lock issues. You could order a set of resto lines and option a 3/8" feed if available, used in conjuction w/a 3/8" pick-up assy., You're most of the way there. While the '72 and up cars used a...

    Fuel return line?

Hey. Converting to EFI, and I was wondering about the fuel return. I noticed on the pass side of the engine bay there appears to be a non connected return of some kind. I'm assuming this is some kind of fuel vapor return line? It's a 1972 model. Any chance I could use this for a return line for...

    Tuning Street Demon carb

Test drive went well, AFR at WOT is more where I want it in the mid-12s but up in the higher RPMs it's leaning out a tad, just about hitting 13.0:1 around 5500 RPM. I remember talking to a guy at a track day/car show combo event a couple years ago and he said specifically the Street Demon carb...

318 going into my 340 71 valiant. Need help on shopping list

Hey gang, I'm replacing my tired 340 (internals unknown) with a recently acquired 318 that did 535hp/535trq on the engine dyno. I'm a complete noob on car carb tuning but I have some experience on the motorcycle carb variety. Torn between a sniper 2 setup and carbureted, but I DO want to at...
