Yep. A lot of people do that. Some relocation boxes even come with additional holes drilled rearward for that purpose. Before you drill, it may be a good time take a quick X-measurement to ensure the rearend is square to the body. A lot of times, they aren't due to sloppy factory tolerances.

You should see what they did to the steering box. On the AU A body cars I have seen- The steering box is bolted the the frame horn, through the inner fender... instead of the K frame.

Luckily, I guess, there's no power to starter from key...so no worries about grinding the engine, plus, it's not a fresh rebuild. Engine has miles on it but has been sitting for a few years. I did prime pump and had good flow just before electrical issue.
