    273 or 225?

IMHO: swap it. Unless you like sewing machine noises and no balls under the hood. Now with that being said - 273 is a bit costly to build power and you can only go so far with out bags of cash…. I know, I’ve got a built 273. If I had to do it again… I’d go built 318 for the money in my 66...

[SOLD] Throttle Body for FI (slant six and smaller v8)

I have this same model throttle body on the built slant six in the 68 Barracuda. it is very tunable and drivable. The throttle body is used on 2002 GM 4.3 L v6 motors. The same size TB was also used on GM 5.0L v8's of that same era. The TB was disassembled, cleaned and polished internally by a...

    74 duster slant 6 to 318 conversion

Thanks for the response, there is a lot I didn't even consider from the start. My father nor I are very exceptionally handy when it comes to car stuff, but I am still going to try lol My slant and the new 318 are both equipped with a 904, and I think the 318 I bought was originally from a 71/72...

    [SOLD] 3 used throttle cables

Sold pending receipt of payment. I have for sale 3 decent throttle cables that fit most of the A body cars. The overall cable length is 24.5” from the pedal ball to the carb attaching point and 24” to the firewall. These are longer than the OEM 19” 340 4-barrel cables. Most likely these are the...

    273 or 225?

Save the motor mounts, V8 steering center link, exhaust manifolds, gas pedal and throttle cable assembly. The only body modification you might have to make is notching the torsion bar crossmember on the passenger side if you want true dual exhaust. You can do dual exhaust without doing that, but...

    Driving without throttle linkage

It's so easy to set up I can't understand why you'd want to jerry rig it, even temporarily. You need a Bouchillon or Lokar kickdown cable kit, a V8 throttle cable, and an angle bracket from the hardware store or a light metal bar you can bend to fit, to hold them in place. About an hour all told.

Is it a bolt-in? No. Is it at least do-able? yes, depending on your abilities and ambition. There are many differences that will need to be addressed: Engine, transmission, rear end, suspension, and electrical. Let's start with the engine. The '75 engine will physically fit, but the following...

    Swapping a 273 for my 225?

It's essentially a bolt-in swap with a couple of exceptions. The 63 has a different wiper motor mount on the firewall that was revised for 64 to accommodate the V8 (distributor clearance). Also the 63 only had a 19" radiator where the 64 and later cars would accept a 22" radiator. Later slant...

[WANTED] V8 throttle pedal for my A body

Through 66, slant sixes had a rod, not a cable. If the OP is working on a 65 Barracuda, he will need the V8 accelerator pedal, V8 throttle cable firewall bracket, and an A body V8 cable, preferably a four barrel cable. Repop 340 cable will work just fine. Edit, if you don't care about...

273 swap to 318/ build, cost, potential, daily driver

Sounds like you first need to decide what you want. What do you need to get your 273 done? The cam I offered to sell you is as close as we could get to a stock Commando 4 barrel cam. It would work for a 2 barrel or 4 barrel carb. A used 273 or 318 crank should not cost much. Done, nothing...

Advice around 170 slant carb and engine swap

x2 on rebuild the carb. few bucks and you *should* be good as new. here's good start for some info: replacements can be spendy and tracking down a good used carb for a rebuild can be a chore. starting with what you have and seeing if you can make that work is probably the most economical way...

Why is everyone using cable kickdowns?

Im running a full lokar throttle/kickdown cable kit. At the time I didn't have either and the throttle cable could be found but correct linkages could not at a reasonable price. I paid about 1/4th for the full lokar kit compared to what I would have had to pay for stock style stuff. It was...

Need help on correct linkage.. who makes it

Yup, as str12-340 said, your forward kickdown rod is mounted in the wrong place. It needs to go on the same post as the throttle cable. You look to have a conglomeration of various parts from other years. The '66 and older setup is totally different than the '67-up setup. Trying to mix and match...

    Rebuild or swap? 1970 Valiant

keep in mind swapping from a /6 to V8 you'll need to consider all the peripherals: exhaust, motor mounts, transmission, fuel line, wiring, cooling just to name a few. then you'll need to track down all kinds of fiddly bits like kick down linkage, throttle cable bracket and return spring mount...

...make sure that they're A body manifolds. Mainly, you will need an appropriate A body V8 radiator and shroud, and POSSIBLY a shorter V8 throttle cable. An exhaust system. Possibly some other details I'm forgetting, but that's the gist of it. It would be handy to know the year/original...
