As explained here: 1963 Dart swap to cable throttle? you cannot directly bolt a 64-66 V8 firewall cable throttle bracket to a 63 firewall. However, you can rig up something that looks like a factory V8 setup and uses the V8 accelerator pedal.

It all depends on what year 273/904 you're getting. Your car uses a ball & trunion driveshaft. 904s up through '65 also used a ball & trunion output shaft. '66 and later used a slip yoke. Use of a later 904 in your car would require a new driveshaft in addition to some of the mods listed...

In more detail... the throttle "pull" on the 1bbl is straight down... the pull on the 2bbl is straight back towards the firewall — there is no way the rod linkage can pull in this direction. You have to change to a cable. A V8 cable is a better length than a later 6cyl cable (these are too long).

circlepilot, that is a 67 Dart V8 throttle cable and home made bracket. Used a Holley or Mr.Gasket carb heat shield for the carb and to attach a return spring. A bit overkill but I like to use what I got.

I'm pretty sure I'm using a 340 cable on my 4-barrel slant. But it's been a long time since I did the conversion and my memory has betrayed me before. I can go out to my garage and measure the length of the cable from firewall to carb if that would help.
