    Another “parts store” warning

So one of my favorite online “parts store” has let me down. They tend to ship a free little magnet with some car guy’s nice ride with your order, if you catch my drift. Anyway, I ordered ball joints for my scamp and one was missing the boot. I emailed them and the first response I received was a...

    A true bad Monday

Needed to vent/share my bad day with you guys, thanks! I started my valiant this morning before work to move it for no parking days and this box truck comes around the block, doesn't see me pulling out from the curb and bam! He hit my front driver side and took off. Ruined the valance...

    Narrowing 8 3/4 details

So I decided to narrow an 8 3/4 for my Dart project, I got the housing off a C-body for $60 at the junkyard and a pair of stock A-body axles from another FABO member for $50. So far so good, but I have a few questions: 1) When shortening a driveshaft, does it need to be re-balanced? 2) Can I...

    Slant won't start!!?!!?!?

So I need help... once again. My 225 won't start after possibly overheating it last week. I was driving home (uphill) and my temp started climing and the gauge went to about 3/4 of the way. Then it went to 0 as I pulled to the side of the road, turns out the temp sender wire came off. Along with...

    My new mopar!

Ignore the Dork (Me) Just got this '72 Scamp on Monday! :happy4: Got a great deal on it, pretty straight and running! Wouldn't start after six months of being parked, just poured in a bit of gas in the tank and carb and it fired right up. Plan to keep this one original. What do you guys think?

    Drill & tap aluminum pan?

I just got an aluminum trans pan but the only fitting is on the bottom for a plug. I want to run a trans temp gauge and was wondering if it'd be okay to just drill and tap the pan for a 1/8 sender, or is a welded bung a must? The pan is pretty thick...

    Backup switch with harness

This is a backup switch for early auto floor shift cars. Mounts to the shifter bracket. There are three spots with crimp connectors (shown in pics), should be an easy fix. Checked with ohmmeter and appears to work just fine. Asking $35 shipped in US. Thanks

    What metering block?

I'm rebuilding a 3310 750 Holley for my 360 and I need a new primary block (secondary plate was also upgraded to metering block). Should I just get a stock replacement or would something from Proform, AED, or Quick Fuel be better? Thanks

    Floor shift linkage swivel

Apparently I lost the swivel assembly sometime between the junk yard and my car. I figure it'd be easy to fab one up. So could anyone please help me out with some good pics of one, and measurements? It'd be much appreciated! Thanks

Kickdown lever & output shaft bearing

Rebuilding my 72 904 trans and was wondering... Should I replace the stock (3.8 ) kickdown lever with a 4.2 or 5.0? This is for a 350ish HP daily driver. How can you tell if the output shaft bearing is still usable? would it be obvious if it's not? The ATSG manual only has instructions on...

    904 rebuild parts & pitfalls

I need your help once again FABO! I just got done building a 360 for my 72 dart which should, hopefully, be putting out 350ish hp (machinist's guess). This will be a fun daily driver with no track time, but probably some stop light action. I am going to be rebuilding the sb 904 and need some...

    Ring gap confusion

Got my shortblock 360 .060 together, but now I'm wondering about the ring gap. I don't think my pistons are hypers, just cast (silv-o-lite 1273 60) so I set the gaps at about .0165. Should I have followed the 20-40% gap increase rule? It's not really a HP build. Thanks in advance!

    Oil pick up Qs

Started putting my 360 together, but neither the haynes manual nor the hp how to rebuild your sbm mention oil pick up to pan clearance. What gives? Also, do you guys use a tach weld to hold it in place? Thanks for your help.

Hey all, I'm finally getting my 360 back from the machine shop on Monday and was wondering if I should start assembly or not. windage tray yay or nay?

The 360 core I got recently didn't use a windage tray and I wanted to know if I should invest in one or not. It's for a mild daily driver with an 1800 - 4800 redline at 6000 crower cam. My machinist said to spend the money elsewhere on the engine. What's YOUR opinion. Thanks!
