There is nothing like working on old cars. It makes you appreciate the "good ole days". I just did a stick to automatic conversion and power disc brake up grade on a 55 chevy. I also rebuilt the transmission in a 36 ford. Such a pleasure!

If it has an EGR valve, make sure it's not stuck open. That would cause a huge internal vacuum leak.

I would pull the pan and make sure the rear servo is not cocked in the bore. Sometimes this would happen after a rebuild and we would smack it back in place with a hammer and large screwdriver. If this is what happened then tighten up on the rear band about one turn to keep it from happening...

Are 340 cars the only ones considered GT's ?

How can I tell if my car is a GT. I have a 71 that has 61,000 miles and is a 318 with an original white bucket interior. Just curious. If I did'nt know better I would swear it was a 340 car.

The slip taking off is probably limp mode (2nd gear). The code says you have intermittent power loss from the tcm (trans control module). Could be bad tcm, or shift solonoid pack. Wiring could also be a problem. The input speed sensors are also problematic and are a cheap shot in the dark.

Sounds to me like the front planet blew up.

I would say there is a problem in the front clutch inner lip seal. slipping the trans may have burned up the clutches. If the fluid smells burned then so are the clutches. The inner seal is very popular for shrinking and will usually give reverse and third problems. I used to pour "sea foam for...

I had both my cars media blasted completely. One car is from south carolina, the other from arizona. They have no body rust and the media does not remove body filler like sand does.
