If you disconected the harness going up the stearing column I don't think it could be the directional switch, brake lights and directionals are on the same cicuit and bulb filiments. try looking at the brake wiring

No damage, just a lot of soot it washed off easy with soap and water. I think the intence heat melted the air shock hose and the blast of air ignited the tire!

I boughta 833od trans for cheap $$, had it looked at and rebuilt for more $$, needed new clutch, more $$, didn't fit bell housing, found one on e-bay, more $$, now i find the drive shaft yolk is to big to fit, what do I need to make this work? too much $$ to quit now

i have an over drive 4 speed with a 5.10 inch bearing retainer can I put this in my 73 340 duster with a different bell housing?

years ago i built a 360 and put it in a Duster after about 2 weeks it died, like it was out of gas, i towed it home and went though everything and found the pos and neg terminals on the coil reversed after correcting it the car ran great! sounds dumb but worth a look.
