Yeah, I bought the same replacement pedal, no pad. My original is still in the car. The wear pad on mine fell on floor at the race track. I bummed some silicone off a helpful racer nearby and slapped it back on. Made the next round which I probably lost. : ) The pad is still on there today.

Still saying leak down test here. It will tell you health of each cylinder and, if you have a good ear, where the leak is - valves, rings, head gasket. I would first put an inductive timing light on each plug wire to look for consistent spark. I remember looking at my old '66 motor in the dark...

I can't say I am that familiar with post 69 A bodies. But I do not believe the clutch pedal is adjustable. On the bumper and that's it. @AJ/FormS may know different. Have you considered your brake pedal is too low for whatever reason?

And? It is running fine? Not according to the OP. Leak down test that motor IMO.
