To get the spindle off the stud you need a pickle fork. And the ball joint is threaded in and requires a special socket to remove it. Most of the ones I have seen and used are 3/4" drive but there are 1/2" drive ones too. They are not real common any more but NAPA does list them and can order...

I have Grundy too. But as you said your age is killing you. Could you put it in someone else's name until you are old enough??? I know it is a bummer but sometimes you have to do what you got to do.. Other than that you will have to use a standard carrier which may not have enough coverage...

I always cut the starter part off the bell housing cover so you don't have to pull the starter out to get to the converter so it can be drained .. Mine doesn't have the small cover either because I just got the shield from Chrysler...Yup still available... Bill
