Stock factory cam. I didnt have time to switch it out and find valve springs. Had 5 days after work to pull motor, build the magnum and get it running for a Chrysler show on the weekend. Havent gotten time to play around with it any more but hopefully this weekend i can get some time on it.

adjusted the arm bolts a bit over 21ft lbs and no ticking from them now, put in 15-40 oil but still get a bit of ping from the lifters. going for a drive to check it out.

ok so theyre all torqued down to 21ft-lbs. Oil though all push rods and filled the rocker arms. Are those bolts only torqued to 21ftlbs or as i've read in some threads 30ft-lbs. The ping noise seems to be coming from the fricken lifters... i wonder if the oil isnt thick enough...

Well its all stock pieces, the push rods are hollow and cleaned out. I've got a bunch of oil in the top end. Everything is stock except for the new "stock" roller lifters with the oil hole facing up when installed. The head gasket is perma torque fel-pro. I just thought i may have over tightened...

I just put together my 5.9L Magnum with new heads and used the stock rocker arms with stock springs. I torqued the rocker arm bolts down to 21ft-lbs or as close as i could on my torque wrench. My issue or issues is that when the engine heats up and i shut if off, you hear pinging noises.... Now...

I'm just wondering what the difference is between a Magnum oil pan gasket and the using that Gasket (Magnum) with a LA timing cover? I've read that it wont work and no one seams to know around here if it seal correctly. I don't have the magnum timing cover to compare. My engine is a 97 5.9L...

well i'm going to see about picking up a 74 318 auto with vinyl and sun roof. Needs a lower quarter on one side and some bubbles on lower front fenders. Needs a engine bay detail but the interior is excellent (surprisingly). YY1 - nice! post some pictures if you get a chance to check it out...

shoot seems kinda of mixed. I'm looking at the key they sent me and its pretty short. i was just worried about the bolt holding all that in there and lock tight basically keeping it from coming out. i',going to give it a shot since i have a new mechanical fuel pump. thanks for all the replies

I just ordered the cam snout extension from Hughes. Has anyone else used this in their Magnum swap? Just wondering how it worked out?

Since you guys are running big cams, what valve springs did you use? I can't find any listed for magnums that arent crazy priced.... I'm putting in a magnum in my Charger and i wanted a cam but the springs would blow the budget.
