Prayers go out to our Florida Friends

Thanks for checking on us Floridians. We are safe. No damage. Just saw on the local news that the "Treasure Coast" of Florida had 19 tornados. Some were EF 2's and 3's and traveled for miles. These hit before hurricane Miltom made landfall on the other side of the state.

    1965 Offenhauser 273!

The Racer Brown cam in the Yellow-Jacket is an ST-14 with 0,486 lift. The Camcraft cam in the D/Dart had 0.501 lift. Both lifts mentioned are intake valve lifts.

I sent Jim the actual D/Dart cam drawings about 5 years ago.

    BELLHOUSING FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH

I put a 10 1/2" clutch setup in one of my D/Darts. It has a 1999 Mopar Performance 360 ci - 380 hp Crate engine in it. Used a Challenger bell housing and got the z-bar and brackets and flywheel from Brewers. Great guy to deal with. Used the Doug's 450 headers and a Dodge Dakota starter.

    Commando vs Charger

No callout on the D/Dart unsilenced air cleaner. It was 14" in dia and painted black.. Made of unobtainium along with the Holley carb.

    273 copper head gaskets SCE

Yes they are both true D/Darts that I own. The candy apple red and white mother of pearl was Ted Spehar and Ralph Costa's D/Dart -original race engine with a larger cam.. The all white one came out of CA. Was Dana's old car. He put the crate engine in it. Has 4.10 gears in it.

    273 copper head gaskets SCE

If it's my white D/Dart with the Cragars on it, it currently has a 360, 380hp Mopar Performance magnum crate engine in it. It's quick.

    Rarest A-body on Fabo?

I'll also have to say the 1966 D/Darts. This is the first of the 50 D/Darts produced. It was picked up at the assembly plant by Ted Spehar. I know of 11 survivors.

    L"OH" vs L"Zero"

Not a mistake. It is the correct date. It's the paperwork from a 1966 D/Dart which had the LO23 vin callout. Not the 1968 LO23. I posted it to show what they did to get the LO23's through the build sequence at the plant.

    L"OH" vs L"Zero"

If you look at the sales codes on the attachment, the S.C 408 and 409 are different than the LO23.

    L"OH" vs L"Zero"

I saw an old post on this site reguarding the LO vs L0 vin plates. This is from March/1966 which is prior to the launch of the D/Dart. It states that the VIN is intended to be L"OH".

    1966 D Dart 1of50

Gotcha. Thought maybe you knew something that I did know about them. I own 2 now and owned another one back in the 1990's. One of my currones is Ted Spehar and Ralph Costa's old race car. Bought that when we lived up in Warren, MI.

Chrgdrt - you disagreed with my comment earlier in the post. Care to elaborate?

    1966 D Dart 1of50

Yes it's listed. I think Larry bought it around 2000.

    1966 D Dart 1of50

That was Larry's car and was for sale in Reno, NV. It did sell recently. The car is in Texas now. D/Darts did not come with radios or rear seat belts.

Narrow A Body 360 Oil Pan

I have a Mopar 360 Magnum crate engine in my 66 D/Dart. I had to notch it to clear the steering arm. I heard that some people have taken a hammer to that area.

    Vintage drag race question

The car that ran the 12.4 et and 111 mph was the D/Dart campaigned by Coronet Dodge. These were both AHRA class records back in 66. They were not NHRA times. AHRA allowed hydraulic cams, larger valves and springs, duel carbs, 280 ci engines. Can't forget the hood scoops.

    Vintage drag race question

What dealership was it at in Akron? I have a registry of them and don't have one listed as going there.

    Vintage drag race question

The only things the same on the Roots engine and a D/Dart engine would be the connecting rods. The Roots has 12.5 pistons, higher lift cam, different crank, larger valves, heavier duty valve springs, lightweight fan...... And they both run around 12.92 @ 105.

    D/Dart

It took the new owner 22 hours to get to NV to pick up the car. He said that it was a very solid LO23 and is very happy with his investment. I'm sure he will do a top notch restoration of the car.

    D/Dart

It has been sold. It is a real D/Dart. Has the original engine but missing the carb, spacer/adapter, air cleaner, and a few other things. No headers. Doug's D450 are similar to the originals but are not exact copies.

D Dart For Sale - Reno, NV. Not Mine.

It's real. Belonged to the late Larry Underwood. He's had the car for over 20 years. Been sitting for at least that long. It is in my registry. It's on it's way to a good home. The post has been taken down.

    Headers, TTI or Doug’s?

Not much wiggle room around the torsion bars with the Doug's.

    Building a 273

Speaking from experience, I personally would go with a 360 Magnum crate engine. It's all done and ready to bolt in. I've got a 380HP Mopar Performance one in my one D/Dart and it is quick. It's barely streetable for my liking with the 4.10 gears The race engine in the other D/Dart is ok but I...

    Iron 273 4 barrel manifolds

If you look on the NHRA Class Index page, it allows the 273 to use Edelbrock heads with a bump up of 5 to 10 HP. I didn't see anything on the LD4B in either the engine blueprint or index sections. The Chrysler part number for it is 2836139. I believe they came with and without the p/n cast...

    Iron 273 4 barrel manifolds

The D/Darts came with the 2536771 intake that came on the w/CAP engines. Due to larger throttle bores, a 1/2" thick aluminum spacer was fabricated "in house" to adapt the Holley carb to the intake. The manifolds were not modified at all.

273 fans. This is a must read

You had a true 1966 D/Dart a while ago? Was it a white, red interior, 273 - 275 hp, 4-speed, radio delete 4.86 gears, Doug's headers, 1966 Dodge Dart GT? Inquiring minds want to know. Alan - true D/Dart owner.

1966 Dodge D/Dart ~ 'Mystery, Myth and Misconception'

Ulf, Not arguing the 00235 being the S/O number. Of the cars that I know of, 11, they run is sequence along with the VIN numbers. Phillip's car with the 00235 S/O number is way out of sequence along with the build date 4-17 vs 4-27. His S/O number should be 41771163. I think this body was...
