Dropping the steering column, any tips?

I'm going to be tackling the dash renovation soon. When I drop the steering wheel, what do I need to be mindful of. I read in the service manual or forum (can't recall) about not forcing it as it will mess with the shifter linkage, etc.. Any tips? I'm a newbie. Thanks :burnout:

    Redoing instrument panel trim

Really hoping to avoid pullin the whole cluster out, which is why the sharpie thing intrigued me, but I'll probably do all that when I recover the dash pad. Seen those stickers, but I'm going to try to clean up the woodgrain first.

    Redoing instrument panel trim

Sorrrrrry.... 1975 Duster Used the search function and found a guy who suggested using either a paintbrush or a silver sharpie. It's not going to be a 100 point restoration, just a driver.

Screw size for the upper interior door panel trim?

On the inside of my 75 Duster, I'm missing several screws for the upper door panel trim. The part that the sweep attaches to that the locking knob sticks out of. Any idea off the top of your head what size screw that is? It's the little one : ) Thanks! :prayer:

    A/C question

I have all the A/C lines and everything present under the hood of my 1975 Duster with the slant six. The compressor doesn't work, and I was looking into the cost of converting the A/C over to modern refrigerant (hearing that the old type is illegal, and the modern type will not work in old...

    Valiant interior

Th-th-th-thread necromancyyyyyyy If you can't find the answer to your question, you can make door panels fairly easy (it looks like). The person who owned my duster before me did the same, and they look fairly simple to cut the board the shape of the door, cut out the hardware holes, and...

    75 Duster Armrest Question

The base of mine was crumbling, so when putting it back to the door it cracked out and wouldn't hold (just the one side, luckily). My question is, what armrests will fit my 2 door base model? Will it be just Dusters? Dusters from other years? If I replace just the armrest base, is that...

Share Some Engine Bay Clean-Up Tips

The rattiest part of my 1975 Duster slant-six is the engine bay, so I want to get in there and do some work. I don't plan on removing the engine (and I wish the folks who had the car before me had cleaned up things when they had it out). So I was wondering what kind of tips you have for cleaning...

    Painted Duster Emblems?

I've got a Lucerne blue 75 Duster, and I'm wondering about painting the inside of my Duster emblem letters red to make them pop. I just wondered if anyone else had any thoughts about painting the inside of the emblems? Opinions? :burnout:
