Did I get two lefts or two rights ??

Thanks Jeff, the eBay set has two different covers (only one cover has the oil filler provision) unlike what the OP has. I guess the grommet will cover one for PCV use?

    MSD or Blue Streak wires?

BTW the Accel wires are around $100 a set now.:wtf: I've had good luck with mine but my car isn't driven very much either. A mostly stock 318 won't need anything special or see any improvement with expensive wires IMO.

    MSD or Blue Streak wires?

Same here, I've been running Accel wires in my 340 for over 10 years with no issues.

75 Duster: Six Pack or 4bbl?

That's a judgement call only you can make. I think you already know once the sixpack is tuned it is a blast and then the nostalgia of having it when you open the hood. :) My sixpack is fun for those reasons. Once mine was tuned it has not required anything for many years. It might come down to...

Occasional starting difficulty with Digital HP CD box in my D200

I agree with Sterling, no resistor. My MSD ignition box requires a power wire directly to the battery and resistor bypass. I think yours would require the same.

    Hooker Header Help

Yep read 'em..the shop that put my headers in unbolted the steering box. I found this out when I was driving home and the steering was wandering. They forgot to tighten it back down. :BangHead: I paid them to install the headers to avoid dealing with the stupid things..

    Dodge 318

IDK if it was me I'd pass on it and look for a decent running engine and transmission combo from a car. There are lots of 5.2 and 5.9's out there. Or maybe I'm just lazy...

New to 340 so I have questions

Thanks for the info! The point of my post being the fact Nick's heads are correct for the '68 or '69 block .

    Trying to understand Manifold choices

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to why people do their own "upgrades" over stock setups that work well.. Sometimes it's just shiny and new.

New to 340 so I have questions

The X heads have the big valves so that's a bonus and correct for that engine. Yeah I understand, I'll be 70 in a few months. Crawling under cars for some of us is painful now. No big deal, it's a very nice car so just enjoy driving it. :steering:

New to 340 so I have questions

Which leads to more questions. The car does sound healthy and looks well cared for. Nick is this a low mileage car with the original 340? I'm wondering if it has the original bottom end, cam and heads with a swapped intake and carb. Inquiring minds. :)

New to 340 so I have questions

Ohh thanks.. that's what I get for speed reading and not checking the article first. This looks better: 1968-1970 Big 2.02 inch intake valves and 1.60 inch exhaust valves, vs the 318's 1.78 intake and 1.50 exhaust • ‘206’ hydraulic cam - 268 in. dur. - 276 ex. dur. 44 overlap (in 1968, only the...

New to 340 so I have questions

I just want to add that the 340 was Chrysler's new Performance engine. The cams weren't upgraded, just a performance part of the package. That '69 when new would have high compression pistons as well, about 10.5 to 1. It should have a lumpy idle as mentioned. It sounds like the previous owner...

I replaced mine last year, 69 Barracuda with manual 10" drums. This was as close to original I could find. It has the bolt on cover as seen at Summit. Works great! Raybestos MC36221 Professional Grade Brake Master Cylinder

    Nick's Garage dyno's a 318 Stroker.

I like Nick and his videos but know they're mostly for entertainment value. Most of his builds are decided by his customers. I think he's a good ambassador for us and the classic Mopars we all love. This video just shows what can be done with a 318 that many people discard or replace.

    Hughes 5003 lifters

Yes, these lifters require more preload. I 'm using stock non-adjustable rockers in my 340 and had to measure and order longer pushrods to use the 5003's to get the correct preload.

Looking for more pep off the line

At this point Alec might want to check the whole engine build. I give him credit for being hands on but there are too many issues so far. Looks like he needs expert help there.

Looking for more pep off the line

Alecb the guys have covered everything. I like to use a vacuum guage when doing the tune, it can also reveal any engine problems. My engine has an unknown performance cam (bigger than stock) so initial timing would be guesswork. It's an iron headed 340 with 2.02 j heads and a sixpack. I just set...

Upper Radiator Hose Small Block Six Pack

I think there are lots of the sixpacks out there. They had a resurgence in I think, the 90's? A bodys are the perfect car for them to go in. They are usually setup to run OOTB with minor tuning. People go down rabbit holes with them though by changing out parts. Once setup properly they're a blast!

Stripped Holes in Cylinder Head for Intake Manifold Bolts

Metric... yuck! All my neighbours are working with metric tools on their cars because Canada is using metric. When they try to help me with my Barracuda they are lost because it's all standard sizing and built before the changeover. I break out my tools while they are still trying to convert...

Just picked up a Duster 340, need help analyzing the parts in it.

I agree with the above estimates for HP. Looks like a nice street build engine and beefed up transmission. Should be a fun ride. Post engine and car pics when you get a chance. Oh and welcome to our (mostly) friendly mayhem. :)
