    5/16 torque converter bolts

Bought a 72 Demon complete, less engine, set up for racing. Came with a 727 tranny, and a hi stall 10 inch Torque converter. But it has the small 5/16 bolts that attach the flex plate to the torque converter. I think I'll re tap the threads for 3/8 bolts, as I have some already. The flex plate...

    Idler Arm Loose

72 Dodge Dart, Idler arm looks new, but has play in the bearing where it attaches to the K Member. What brand would be the better one to use? Summit has a Pro Form part (102-10035) that looks good. Has anyone tried these? Or maybe a repair kit using roller bearings? Ok thanks for the help...

    Lift Off Hood

72 Dart Swinger, wanted to make it into a lift off hood. I'm always workin on the 318, so removing the hood makes access so much easier. I removed the hinges (no small task), then I cut around the perimeter of the metal bracing. Removing this metal made the hood lighter. So now I'm ready to...

    Hood hinge removal

To remove the hood hinges from a 72 Dart, looks like the only thing holding it on, is that little washer like clip? I think i can remove the door, and gain access to the clip. Then will the hinge just slide off of that pin? These hinges dont work very well. Going a different route with a hood...

    904 Went South

Was driving my 72 Dart Swinger yesterday, (warmed up 318) and the trans was only engaging in 2 gears, don't think it ever went into 3rd. Then it decided to stop engaging at all. After cooling for 30 minutes, it worked for about half a mile. So after towing it home, and starting the removal...

    Test IVR

Can you test the IVR by putting 12 volts to the center ignition terminal, and see if you're getting 5 volts out of the other terminal? The negative is of course hooked to the very end one, which is connected to the outer case. Is this a good way to test it?

    Drum to Disc brake swap

I've been reading posts on converting a 72 Dart from front drum brakes, to disc. As I understand, the upper control arm needs to come from the 73-76 A Body, as well as the other disc brake parts. I'm confused as to the lower ball joint. Apparently the only difference is the later ball joint...

    318 WITH CHEVY DISTRIBUTOR

Just made a deal on a 72 Dart, with the 318 engine. Well it has roller rockers that I can see, alum intake, Edelbrock carb, and a Chevy HEI dist! What the heck? Didn't know they would fit in there! So is this the hot set up, or a 1 of a kind mod? It runs ok, but not much room left back there due...

    Pulls to right

My 68 Valiant, 512 Drag Race car, pulls to right on hard acceleration. It has a ferd 9 inch rear end, 4 link traction control suspension, with coil overs. Not sure what's wrong here. Can it be adjusted to keep it from pulling right on launch? Not too informed on this type rear end set up. It...

    Ostrich in an early Duster

Liberty has started a series of new commercials, where Doug, the driver of an early 70s Duster, has Limu the Emu for a partner. He's similar to an Ostrich, but smaller. Some pretty funny ones. Anybody seen them? They're hilarious, and put an early A Body in front of the masses.

    512 Build

Starting a 512 build. So far, of the 3-400 blocks I have, 2 are .060 over and 1 is .030 over. So will get them sonic checked to see which one has the thickest cyl walls and go from there. One of the .060 over blocks has very little wear, was a truck block, and the pistons are like new. ICON has...

    Stealth Head Port Work

I have my Stealth heads apart, and noticed a small ridge below the valve seat, where the seat meets the casting. Would it be helpful for low lift flow, to blend the ridge into the casting? Pretty sure it helps on the intake side, not sure on the ex side. Any ideas? Here's a picture showing the...

    Tire size for 70 Dart

Has anyone tried putting 15 by 10 wheels on the back of a 70 Dart? SBP axles. Tires are 295 50 R 15. Pretty sure the tires won't fit. Wheel backspace is 5 or 5.5, not sure yet. I have 6" between outside of brake drum, and leaf spring. Guess I could put air shocks on, and raise the heck out of...

    Installing subframe connectors

Thought I would start a thread showing the step by step installation of some Mopar Performance subframe connectors. 1970 Dodge Dart Custom, 111" wheelbase. Valley pan for Stage VI heads

I have some ported Stage VI heads I want to try out. The spacer has a thin recess cut into it, for a valley pan. Then you use paper gaskets on top where the intake manifold meets the spacer. So is there a special valley pan that will work on there? Or do I just cut the intake port portion off a...

    Subframe Connectors by Competition Engineering

Has anyone used these connectors? P/N C 3115 at Summit. 1970 Dart. They are about $40 less than the Mopar Perf units. They are a bolt in, with 6 bolts per side. I wonder 1) If they are strong enough? 2) Should they be welded in, after installation? To make it more rigid. Does that help? 3) How...

    Wheel to spring clearance

Working on a 70 Dart 2 door with an A Body 8 3/4 rearend. Just wondering what is the maximum back space wheel a guy could use on this? I want to buy some 15" wheels when I get the axles re drilled to 5 on 4.5 pattern. Can I use an 8" wide rim on this ? Thinking about using Centerline wheels. Do...

Big Block A Body oil pan

Just got the pan off my 230 block, and it happens to be a 187 pan. That's the one that is on my 1970 440 Dart. So that one fits fine with plenty of clearance everywhere. The 187 has the indentation on the passenger side near the drain plug, to clear the Idler arm and tie rod. Good to know if...

Easy way to check line pressure on a 727

I checked my 727 line pressure by hooking up my oil pressure gauge to the transmission line pressure port, in the middle of the right side. Both ports are eighth inch pipe. Came up with 55 at idle, and 88 with the kickdown lever all the way back. So it looks like I'm within stock specs. Here's a...
