    Formula S (HD) Leaf Springs

Yes, big block cars got different springs and t-bars. I have never seen anything that indicated that they got a different sway bar, though. My source shows all 67-69 A-bodies as .88 (7/8 inch).

    Formula S (HD) Leaf Springs

No, that is not correct. HD suspension was its own option checkbox. Yes, it was included in the Formula S package, but a customer could order it with any engine option. Slant six taxis (Darts and Valiants) often got the HD suspension. And with the trailer towing package, as mentioned. On my 67...

    Formula S (HD) Leaf Springs

No, those numbers don't seem to have any relation to the part numbers. I posted the part numbers in Post #2. "067" and "072" do not appear in any of the part numbers in the list.

    Formula S (HD) Leaf Springs

My 67 fastback with HD suspension package (NOT Formula S) shows 893/892 for the torsion bars, and 072 for the leaf springs. Note that replacement springs may or may not have the same number of leafs — you can get the same spring rate with fewer, heavier leafs or with more, thinner leafs.

Thinking about a dash light upgrade. Your thoughts?

You want the "Warm White" LED bulbs to match the color you get from the incandescent lamps. The dash has a blue lens over the bulbs to shift the color to pure white (more or less) — if you get "Bright White" or "Pure White" LEDs, the actual color on the instruments will shift toward blue. This...

    Formula S (HD) Leaf Springs

    I don't know that those stamped numbers correspond to the part numbers, because those don't match anything in my reference. The following are all 6 leaf "HD" springs. 2808 607 - 1967 - HD except 383 2808 677 - 1967,68,69 - 383 (all) 3004 588 - 1968,69 - HD except 383 3420 183 - 70-72 - HD 2dr...

What's the best engine paint for the red that's on the early slant 6s and 273s?

Well, I'm pretty sure the paint on my 67 273 had become more orange and less intense over time, from repeated heat cycling and age... judging from the color of the Commando decal on the air cleaner, and the red paint on the Commando badge, at any rate. I wound up using the International...

The data tables in the Tire Rack tire description pages also list the manufacturers recommended rim widths for each size of tire.

    Vin issue 1965 barracuda

Yeah, the VIN has obviously been replaced — look at that extra hole, and that tag looks nothing like a factory tag. Some kind of salvage title, presumably. Would make it very hard to put it back on the road. Why it's a parts car, no doubt.

    1967 Barracuda Windshield Trim

The first question is, is the back window using the factory trim? The factory trim consisted of several strips of plastic with a shiny mylar finish that snapped into grooves in the window seal rubber. At the top cores and the center of the bottom, where the strips met, there was a short...

    Seat Belt Question

On bucket seats, the belt will always go outside the hinge. The only time it goes through the gap between the bottom and back cushions is on a bench seat or split bench.

Headers for 67 barracuda 318 with no modifications

Well, a 318 never came stock in a 67 Barracuda, so you should probably be looking at listings for a 1968 Barracuda 318. The general consensus is that the only headers that are a clean fit are TTI. Doug's, Hooker, etc. all require bashing or bending, or so I have heard. Be aware that running a...

    gauge frustration

Yes, in 67-69, at least, the IVR was in the fuel gauge, not the temp gauge. Don't have any experience with 66 though.

67 Barracuda Trunk panel - best paint?

Yeah, there are several things that could be called "trunk panel". But I'm guessing you are referring to the center area of the aluminum trim panel on the deck lid. This is not as simple as question as it might seem. The default answer is "Argent Silver", but Mopar had more than one shade that...

Haveing trouble finding motor mounts to fit my freshly rebuild 273.

Is there a source to find how many 1968 Barracudas were painted a certain color?

No, there is no surviving record that breaks down paint colors. But from experience it is pretty clear that the three shades of Turquoise are some of the least common colors. Mopar only started using "artistic" color names in 1968. In 1967, the names were purely descriptive: Dark Turquoise and...

Torsion Bar Upgrade for '65 Barracuda Formula S

I put in .890s as an upgrade to the .870s in my 67. This incremental change is probably only worth doing if you already have the front end apart for a refresh. However, it is a good upgrade that helps control dive and does not result in an overly stiff ride. It is really the sway bar that...

67 Barracuda Fastback Rear Panel Question

Daves69: I believe he is talking about the side panel, not the trunk divider panel. Noisydart: They are a variety of holes. The small ones take sheet metal screws that secure the side panel. The larger ones are passthroughs for the clips that secure the trim strip.

    7 1/4" to 8 3/4" rear end swap advice

What he said. The dolly doesn't help you lift it, so is pointless. Just make sure the rear has the same u-joint size as the driveshaft. You might need an adapter u-joint. And you can have a driveline shop cut down your driveshaft to length, if necessary. Does your Dart have disc brakes...

    How Many 64 Barracudas

The "attrition rate" is not some kind of absolute, general value — it is derived by comparing the number produced with the number surviving. Without the data point of "number surviving", it cannot be calculated. It might be different for different models of car, in different eras, or different...

    How Many 64 Barracudas

There is no way to answer this type of question. The information is not available. Every state has a separate registration database, and they are not generally publicly searchable. So where would you get the data?

What Tire sizes are best for my 1969 Barracuda Fastback?

215/70-14 is the largest size that will fit all around on the 14" rally wheels. The rally wheels are only 5.5" wide, and 225/70 will hit the fender when turning. Barracudas are much tighter in the wheel well than Darts, with more tuck-under in the body side profile.

273 Cracked Intake manifold with a belly of "Charcoal"!

I can tell you from experience that if you try to mount the "new angle" 4bbl intake on a set of early heads, you will get burned oil gunk on the valves and all kinds of crap in the valley — it will leak on both sides.

    Seat height question

I would think so. When I swapped out very worn buckets for a new restored bench, I gained 3-4 inches in height (this was not a good thing — my hair touched the headliner). A lot of it depends on the condition of the foam & springs — you don't realize how much they sag over 50 years.
