    Wanted 1967 340 Block

Hello. I'm still looking for a 340 block for my GTS. The block must have an assembly date of before September 22, 1967. In Mopar speak, that's a code of before 2247. I'm not fussy about condition (cracked, ok). Thanks, Bill

    Rectangular Flasher Part Number

Hi Fellas, Does anyone know the generic part numbers for the original rectangular turn signal and 4-way flasher units for a 68 Dart? (I know the factory number for the turn signal was 2584854) Were these flashers the same part number?(both hazard and t/s) I have got all of my electricals working...

Convertible Rear Armrest 67-69 Dart Barracuda

Hello. I'm looking for a rear armrest for the passenger side of a 68 Dart convertible. I'm pretty sure these were the same for 67-69 Darts and Barracudas but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Prefer black and will buy a pair if need be as beggers can't be choosy! Thanks, Bill

    Wanted:My car's original 1968 340 block

Hello all. You folks are right as usual. My cars build date was September 22, 1967 so it is an early 1968 model. So, from what most of you are saying, there isn't a VIN stamp on my original block, correct? If that is the case, then I guess there is no way I can find my original block? Bill

NEED 1973-76 Disc Brake Distribution /Proportioning Valve

Thanks. We tried the combined booster and m/c from a 76 Dart today with little improvement. Front brakes still do not want to grab much. Ordered the Inline distribution/combination block today per your suggestion (I have the 71-72 "pin" style B/E body calipers). I'll let you know what happens. Bill

NEED 1973-76 Disc Brake Distribution /Proportioning Valve

Still working on my brake problem (see various topics from billkrz). I have been informed that I need the distribution block (where all the brake lines meet) for a 1973-1976 A body. This is because my 1968 Dart which originally had drums has been switched to 70-72 B/E discs which have a 2.75 "...

    Brake Pressure Reading

The system(B/E calipers, 72 B/E master, 71 Dart Booster, 11"rear drums) is not allowing the front discs to apply much pressure at all. The car will either lock up the rears or glide to a stop if you use light pressure. Current thought is a mismatch between booster and M/C. Bill

    Distribution/Combination/Safety Switch Block

I need some clarification/opinions on the distribution/combination/safety switch block. I have a 1968 Dart with original power drum brakes. The car was swapped to B/E pin type discs and 11" rear drums, still with power booster. According to the 1968 parts book, the brake distribution block(where...

    Brake Pressure Reading

My mechanic is pulling his hair out trying to get my front disc brakes to work(please see other posts). Has anyone ever removed the pads and tried to get a force pressure reading between the piston and the caliper? Does anyone have any line pressure readings? Thanks, Bill

Need Help With Disc Brake Coversion

Changed the rear wheel cylinders to 7/8" very little improvement. I'm using the stock Dart power disc booster with the B body 1 1/32 " master. Can that be a problem? Do I need to change the stock Dart safety switch/distribution block? Bill

Need Help With Disc Brake Coversion

Took off the distribution/safety switch. looks OK. As soon as you take pressure off, it recenters itself. Question: it is the stock 1968 unit. The parts book for 1968 says that ALL Mopars used this unit in 1968 for both discs/drums. I now have a 1972 B/E brake system. So...does the distribution...

Need Help With Disc Brake Coversion

Yes, the bleeders are at 12 o'clock. Systems has been bled. New M/C was bench bled. Took off the distribution/safety switch and all looks well. Took apart the new M/C and it looks ok however, it measures 1 1/8" not 1 1/32" as advertised. Would that make any difference for not having front...

Need Help With Disc Brake Coversion

Hello to all. I need some advice regarding the brakes on my 1968 Dart. It originally came with power drum brakes. Somewhere along the line, a previous owner changed the bolt pattern to 4 1/2". At the same time, he swapped the front brakes for the 1970-1972 B/E body discs and 11" rear drums. When...

    Rough idle Carter AVS

I just want to thank Longgone for this thread and Forabodiesonly for their superb site. I also have a 1968 GTS with the stock 340 and Carter AVS 4425S carburetor. It's an orginal California car which may have had an effect as well. I could not get a smooth idle either and i went through...

Need Help With Sb 727 Cover

Well, I heard back from Mancini. Turns out their photos are wrong and indeed the bottom photo is correct for a SB 727 as many of you said. Looks like you need to drop the starter to get this plate on (with the trans on the car). Are there any other "tricks" I should be aware of? Any special...

Need Help With Sb 727 Cover

Hmm...that's interesting. Which cover did you have? I see that BillKay Chrysler online is selling the one with the starter hole for $17.00. This doesn't have the small inspection cover but that doesn't really bother me as I don't want a rock to pop in and trash my tranny. Bill

    Shakey Speedometer Question

Finally installed a new Mopar speedometer cable in my 1968 GTS (340-727). The speedometer is wild! It oscillates back and forth a good 20-30mph and sometimes will read with the car sitting at a stop. Odometer seems ok. I did not lube the cable as it was brand new Mopar from the dealer. Now the...

Need Help With Sb 727 Cover

Had my car (1968 GTS Dart with 340 and 727) on the lift at the shop today and noticed that there was no cover(dust shield) at the bottom of my transmission. Looked at the FABO site and several online suppliers and I got really confused. Someone posted a photo on FABO that showed the plate with a...

    Speedometer Drive Question

No, I did not lube it. Since it was a brand new Chrysler part, I assumed it would be pre-lubed from the factory. Is that not the case? If so, how do you lube it and what do you lube it with? Thanks, Bill
