Plymouth dealer in Lebanon Tenn in 1972

When I bought my 1972 Duster 340 in South Carolina (USAF) in 1976. It had the dealer emblem on the deck lid. I removed that when the car went to painters (1987) I cant find it now and I cant remember the dealer Name. I believe that dealershgip is gone now but it was a Plymouth dealer in...

    Curb weight- 1970 Valiant

The shipping weight for my '72 Duster 340 was 3110 lbs. I would say that was without full tank. I would believe yours would be much less. At least 100 lbs. Terry

    Duster differences 70-71

The stripe difference for the '71 and '72 models was the '340' callout was attatched to the stripe in '71 and detached in '72. I mention this because I see MANY '72's with the wrong stripe and '71's with the wrong stripe. When you try to 'help' them out with it they look at you like you are...

    340 compression ?

OldKimmer...you are correct sir ! They infact did lower the piston .100 in the bore. Piston change is all. If you have an early and late piston opn hand, slip a wrist pin into both at same time and you will see. Terry

    340 Wedge?

1972 Duster 340's had the 'shark tooth' grill also. The 1972 Dusters had the long tail lights where the 1970 and 1971's had the much shorter tail lights. Really only difference between them. The 1970 Duster didn't have the 'ridge' in the center of the trunk lid...I believe..I could be wrong...

    ebay listing,this is ridiculous

That's a '72 Duster. Where did he get the idea it is a '73 ? '72's had the longest tail lights of the early (1970-1972 dusters. Yes...too much he is asking. Could be a good find for someone ...anybody ??

    Al Bundy's Car

Yep......Duster. I loved the show, but had to be a Chevy guy 'writer'. My Brand 'X' buddys gave me the business over that one. All in fun of course. Remember the episode when a car went by outside and you could hear a collision and a guy yell "DAMN DODGE" Al always seemed to push that...

What is with the new DC corp?

Yes it really urinated me off too. The Duster 340 DID get respect from the Phord and 'slow tie' crowd. They hated it EVERY big block was in jeopardy of being blown off when the Duster 340 hit the streets. 2800. bucks bought a hi winding 13 sec. hot rod. I can't tell you all the people...

No..thats too much. They are still out there for much less. I sold a nice clean set of 'X' heads for 300.00 about five years ago. I'd pass on them for 600.00...you can pick up a nice set for less. JMHO. Terry.

    340 duster?

Twister, Congrates on your new project. If it is a real 340 car..it is a good find. I have a '72 Duster 340, picked it up in 1976. Been a fun car that is NEVER finished, constant state of change..what fun it is indeed. If I can be of help just ask. Again..congrates and good luck. Terry.

    Daytona 500

MrMoparTech, two thumbs up to that! Something needs to be done alright..Did he even get penalized for pushing that car into the infield like that? Then when #17 wanted some pay-back..they punished him...TS is nothing but a 'punk'...IMHO. Terry.

    Daytona 500

MrMoparTech, jerk is the right word. Don't care for that attitude/temper of his. Wish he would bring that 'tude' over my way one time...Be hard for him to 'run' his mouth with a fat lip. Don't like the way he drives either. Just not my idea of a sportsman...OK...I'm done now. Terry.

    Cam question

Yes I have one in my 340. Vaccum went from 4.5" to 10" with this change. Old cam was 284/.484 Mopar Hyd. I have 1.6 cranes and true lift is .545. I like it fine. Good off of idle and pulls to over 6500. Good street maners also. Terry.

    340 camshaft

Yes, what Hotwheels said. It will work just fine. Use Diesel oil to break in new lifters. Terry.
