Personal opinion is to put it back on; it was part of the original look of the car and IMHO belongs there.

My Dart is a 1971 GT and as such has the "A65" code numbers on the fender tag. You're right, the GT meant the buckets and center console were standard on these Darts, as opposed to the Swinger package which has the bench seat and column shifter.

Took these Sunday afternoon when I stopped by the local Dodge dealership to see if any of the new Darts had arrived. I found one and took a quick look at it.

My '71 Dart GT was born with a 318 according to the fender tag, but it now has a '72 casting 340 in it. An old Chrysler dealership mechanic (he and the dealership were both old) told me the '72 340 ci in my Dart was in all probability a dealership crate engine they kept on hand in case anyone...
