how do i figure out trap rpm with my diff gear?

why don't you run a 26 or 27" tall tire and keep the 3.91s. the if you drive it on the street with a 27 or 28" tire it will be a lot more livable, and it will work better with your 1st gear launch.

    master cylinder?

Does anyone know if there is an aluminum 4 bolt master cylinder for front disc brake, rear drum cars? A-body. A part number would be most helpfull - if there is.

    aeromtive fuel pump

After no more than 200 miles mine quit completely. took it apart - bottom sealed bearing had seized - replaced it for $12 and has ran at least 500 miles and 50 trips down the track. Their all noisey it seems.

    Timing ??

4.56 with a 28" tire is a very good combination. A 318 will handle a 26" tire. 5.57 with a 30" tire is good to 120 mph. I guess if your not going any place fast it is - lot more can be had with a lot less gearing.

    Timing ??

12-14* initial, 34* total all in by 2500-2800rpm. change to 3.91s before it blows up - unless you have ±34" dia. tires.

What are the downsides of having too much seat pressure with a hydraulic cam? Is 160#s too high for seat pressure running a hydraulic cam? thanks

    rocker arms assembly

The aluminum holddowns are the way to go with the crane rockers. Another thing to check is the number of adjuster threads showing when the pushrod has the correct preload. Each should have 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 threads showing. custom length pushrods may be in order.

    416 coming together...

4secondsflat.com sells a 1/2" aluminum spacer that would allow you to keep the 273 VCs - something different is good.

    First time out

yes, you are over carbed - I doubt you will have enough vacuum to open the secondaries. A 750 would work way better. 34-36* should be good - all in by 2500rpm. Too much gear too IMHO. Try 77 /85s to keep 8 size difference to compensate for the power valve in the primary side.

    416 coming together...

very nice setup - you will need more tire than 26x8. the 255 x 60s ET street radial are 27" x 8 3/4" tread and will fit in the fenderwells on a 8"cop rim or similiar. I'd like to know what you have invested in the heads and intake - thinking of making a change.

    noisey valvetrain

deman360 I have the same setup as you have - its called the 'sewing machine" affect and yes it has to do with the aggressive cam and higher lift - all in the persuit of more power - there always is a downside.

ballpark of what this combo would run?

maybe high 11s - needs more compression

what do you think it will run?

Exactly - otherwise you will never know what good the the money you dumped into it over the winter did for you. Pesimist - 13.5

    Results...............

Congrats sounding real good. I figured somewhere in the high 10s - guess it has a bit more. Curious about you comment on only running MT radials as they have a rep of being as good as or better than slicks. Anyway - enjoy.

Its good to see the 2 of you enjoying the fruits of your labour. When you going to give us a rundown on the powerplant? we know it has W5s. Are you taking it to the Bend this weekend?

Give me an idea of what this will be running

13.00 but you will likely need some slicks to get it. I hope you have added welded in frame connectors - big difference with traction and body twist.

    First EVER run

Add only a sure-grip and leave the rest alone (well maybe one other change - up the timing to 34* total mechanical). If you keep doing burnouts with a peg leg you will soon need one anyway - and maybe more!!

    Test and tune tomorrow

[It had very little or no tirespin launching at 2,500. Hooked real well with the new shocks. Did you try launching just above idle - like 1200rpm? sometimes loading the convertor up is not the best launch for 60' time etc. Take you 600cfm with you next time and swap out to compare- you may...

    Combo advise needed!!

3.91s with a 4 speed will work great - and give you some drivability on the street. I've been running 4.30s and am switching to 3.91s for the very same reason - streetability.
