'72 Scamp Can I just fix the front brakes to get it home?

I can't even get a pedal without the back brakes properly adjusted and bled. Just goes to the floor. That's with a dual MC

    smelled burning, saw smoke

The seals were leaking before I cooked the drum. It was definitely a mess and not fun to clean up. Pushed the bearing grease out of course. These were newer seals too. Do you have to press the bearing off to do the inner seal? I was afraid I might go in Fedex and return to a bonfire :)...

My hands need all the help they can get. Kinda arthritis-ey these days

    smelled burning, saw smoke

Man I hear ya. Unfortunately this bad dizzy won't drive itself there. I need to invest in whatever tool lets you adjust the brakes through those little oval holes in the backing plate. And see if my axle vent is plugged. Crossing fingers I don't have to do those axle seals again

    smelled burning, saw smoke

Better yet, I went in to redo the drums and found the axle is leaking, same side. Maybe I burned off some of that axle lube. I need more drum brake tools, I can tell you that!

    smelled burning, saw smoke

Driving to Fedex today: Smelled like rubber burning, thought, can't be me. Stopped at the light and smoke blew past my window. Hmm might be me. Said, I'll check it out at my destination. Got there and went to pull the brake handle. Oops! Left her on. But I did discover only one brake was...

Just Sharing This Brake Master Cylinder Trick

I bought a used FZR600 that apparently had both in it. They don't mix at all, like water and oil. One fluid was sitting on top of the other after I drained it into a cup.

surprise handling fix with 11.75 rotor swap

It felt loose like it had toe out, even after alignment. It felt unstable and made me nervous I think you nailed it. I remember something was off about the old bearings but I was too cheap and reused everything off the junkyard donor. Donor had been hit pretty good in the driver side front...

surprise handling fix with 11.75 rotor swap

Went to the slider 10.85" discs years ago, worked great for stopping but car always felt nervous over 50. First drive on the pin-style 11.75's and problem solved! Wasn't expecting that. Now I'm wondering why, bearings? The spindles were untouched. Car is in my thumbnail

    Sources for brake calipers

Duster story: My buddies "twister" duster had poorly maintained 4 wheel drums and that was an exciting car to panic stop. He bought the whole thing for $50 from his girlfriend's uncle. The heater was flopping on the floor and burned my leg on the way to Megadeth. Great times. I don't think...

I got pin style calipers for the 11.75" discs from Autozone, under $30 each on sale iirc including core

    What are these holes for

Thank you Scott and Mike. Kinda threw me off because it looks like those holes would weaken the hub

    What are these holes for

They're cast into the side but new rotors don't have em. 11 inch oldies off a 75 valiant, pictured next to 12 inch

brake hardware from 7.25 to 8.75

Yeah the 7.25 10" brakes will work, I used the 8.75 backing plates and most of the 7.25 springs & stuff. The brake hardware package I picked up(raybestos probably) didn't have every spring I needed, so had to reuse a 8.75 brake spring or two. Assuming all 4" bolt pattern

    Disk Brake ?

I'm going to say probably not easily. Nice car btw

    Very cool, thanks Andy :O)

Braided hoses for 11 3/4" swap

The calipers are in the stock location, along with the hard line hookup- both are in the rear IIRC (65 barracuda).

Braided hoses for 11 3/4" swap

Wondering if anyone knows where I can get some braided lines for a 65 barracuda with the 11-3/4" front disc swap with the slider calipers. I looked at Summit, but they've only got Russell lines listed for 67-72 barracudas. Would any of those work?
