With a dead cell the voltage across the battery terminals will be down by about 2 volts. Test while charged will usually be + - 12.5 volts. With a dead cell they will read + - 10.5 volts.

Is it possible that moisture got to the switch and it's rusty?

Disconnect battery then pull knob out on switch. Then push the button on the switch body under the dash and pull the knob and stem out.

I have an inverter that plugs into cig lighter. I keep drill and flashlight battery chargers plugged in all the time. Never had any problems.

Why not an inverter powered from a constant 12v source and plug in the tablet's charger there? How would you control the charging rate to the gel battery?

Should be a "toothed" washer on the screws to penetrate the paint and make a ground.

Most likely a bad headlight switch. The turn signal issue might be a bad ground or wire connection, trace and inspect wiring harness/connectors under hood to turn signals and in trunk.

There isn't one. The stock stuff couldn't handle the amps. That doesn't mean that switches that could carry the load can't be installed. BUT....how cobbled up do you want your car to look??? We could bolt a few 60 amp disconnects on your dash.....I'll run 40 amps through #8 wire all day long...

Take apart an old delcotron alternator and meter the diode trio and rectifier for continuity. Then look at the three leads of the stator windings and follow the path of power to the battery.......really pretty simple.

What headers are those Hotlines?
