Is there a specific intake that goes with 915 heads?

For what its worth, ANY Mopar intake, would bolt right up to the 915 heads.... I do not believe there was ever a "special" intake made to any of the Stock OEM Heads offered for the 440....

tti or schumacher headers ? opinions plzz

383 B block, I'd go Schumachers "Tri-Y's" all day long............. -They fit well in the A bodies without ANY fuss...... And for what I know of them STAY.. I've had and heard others with issues of the rest coming loose and always needing a header gasket..... (I don't understand why if torqued...

    906 Heads?

Talked with the Step-Son while he was at the garage on the phone had him pop the hood and look at the ends of the heads for freeze plugs, turns out I do have 516 on it...... Neither one of the heads have freeze plugs in them, so Rob, you'd be right, I'd have to find the '67 HP 440 "915" heads to...

    906 Heads?

I'm not sure I still have yet to see these, but he got them for $100 a head $200 for the set..... Cleaned up (he said) and had the valves replaced, and he thinks the springs replaced. NOT sure if any machine work was done, (I haven't looked at them myself yet) When I get to see them, I'll...

    What does it mean?

Mopar "B" engines are all "low-deck" being the 350, 361, 383 and 400. The "RB" engines were the 413, 426, and 440 meaning high deck, ALL are "Big Blocks" just the intake height is different requiring specific intakes for the 2 types. In 1959, Mopar (Chrysler) had to figure out how to change...

    906 Heads?

I have to look Rob, As I'm unsure, as I haven't needed to remove the heads. BUT thats not to say if something comes along like the 906's my Step-Son has now, I can get the set for stupid cheap money really, as he got them in a trade, and has nothing to put them on or need them on. He's got no...

    906 Heads?

I'm at the garage again, I'll look and see if the heads on my 383 have the the freeze plug, or not, I didn't notice when I was there yesterday (I just now seen this post) so, next time I'm over at the garage, I'll look! HMMMM

    906 Heads?

Now for me to clarify, these 2 seen pictures, show the BOTTOM of the heads, on my 383, I have NEVER had the heads off the block, so this I have never seen, I looked at my heads yesterday, they seem to be the 516's. NOW, my question is, if I look at them, still bolted on the block, is there a way...

    906 Heads?

Sadly, its got 516's on it..... SO, was looking for better options as a bolt on (no machine work, or purchasing extra parts to make it all work) I'd rather build compression, BUT right now, its in fine running shape, (guess I have some thinkin to do before I indulge...)

    906 Heads?

Rob, YES I "know" the difference from open chambered to closed chambered heads, I did NOT need that, I DIDN'T know that the 906s were open chambered, I DID know the 516s were open chambered. -As I clearly said, I was and still am unfamiliar with 906 heads! So the clarification was unneeded...

    906 Heads?

Hmmmm So the intake will work, BUT then I'm not looking to lower compression, I'm looking to raise it, so in this case, I'll pass. (I haven't even seen the 906's yet) so..... I haven't taken my 383 apart so. I was unsure of fit of it with the intake as well as open or closed chamber from one to...

    906 Heads?

Thanks guys, I was wondering as I want to keep the OEM intake, as I know the heads would "bolt on" BUT wanted to know if I went and got the 906's, if I'd have to change the intake as its a B stock intake, (came with the truck, factory from '67) I knew the 906's would up my compression, SO that...

    906 Heads?

OK guys, I have no idea, reason I'm asking. My Step-son has the chance to get a set of 906 heads, (I haven't seen them yet, BUT he says they're in good unmolestered shape) With having said that, my '67 has a 383 in it, would they fit it AND the intake I have on my running truck with no machine...

    Oil on valve covers

-Really, ALL the PCV is doing is bring FILTERED air through the air cleaner into the head, to create a inward vacuum to then take the crankcase "blow-by" through the actual PCV valve and puts it all back into the intake manifold to re-burn it. -To make use of the cylinder crankcase blow-by...

    Salvagable Block?

If it were me...... I'd clean it up the best I could, MYSELF, then give it a good rub down of oil, or some sort of protectant, shrink wrap it and store it till I'm ready to put it to use. The cost of cleaning the cylinder walls to remove rust and pitting, is gonna be at risk, if you do it, then...

    426 pushrod size?

-I don't believe they will. You'd have to custom grind all the block reliefs in the valley and then, be sure as mentioned to check for clearance on each..... The lifters may need changed too, (again not 100% sure) but the larger diameter push rods may create more friction in the other-wise...

440 under car headers need advice.

I think Schumacher "Tri-Y's" will do what your looking for, BUT I might be confusing them with another as they seem to be block huger type that doesn't enclose the starter and are well fitted to P/S..... Been thinkin' about getting a set for my truck!

    426 Hemi

Tim, I'd LOVE to see the race, but identical cars....... onewith a 426 Hemi, STOCK, and the other with a 426 Max-Wedge, STOCK is what I'd LOVE to see, just to see which is quicker as they are the same block really......... Just the Hemi is a bit heavier made then the Wedge, with different valve...

    426 Hemi

I own a 383 and I agree with Rob, BUT I'd LOVE to have a 426 Hemi in my truck.... just the rumble, sound, and the sight with the hood up be KILLER yes..... HEMI is king! Expensive damn right, but if thats what ya want, thats what ya gotta pay..... The stimulation is NOT "free"..... BUT...

But I say if ya GOT it.........RUN IT! WHY spend more $$$$$...

    R6 440 block?

-didn't "Mopar" or Chrysler supply the race teams 426 Hemi blocks till '72? I BET that 440 is just a plane Jane and really, what would have the difference been in the so-called "race block"??? A more the normal cam, and a different crank? IF its a "bare block" its nothing more then a common RB...

    B vs RB

I missed the poll to vote but, you have a 440 RB and know of a 383 B that you can get for a good price, but NOTHING beats HAVING a motor. I say, use what ya have, and even tho I OWN a 383 and can't say nothing against it, you still OWN the 440.......... Was raised "you use what you...

    BB Mopar head design ??

I say while we're at it....Here's a GREAT one to consider, if your "trying" to get in the minds of a MOPAR engineer...... So its the years of OUR famous "Hemi" the 426.......Your designing this from the big wigs saying we want a "lengend"....... the slant 6 crew hears this, so they on their...

    BB Mopar head design ??

-Also gotto remember, they MOLD these heads from cast iron, which would have had the tool and die department redesigning a whole new "slug" to be milled down to specs unknown so that in itself would have been a real costly job within the confines of that, the rocker shafts would have to be...
