    Early A hood scoop?

Chrygore Mopar {PlymouthDodge} had a proto-type hood scoop designed back in 1965 for the A-Body. It was a smaller version of the 1963/1964 Max-Wedge Hood scoop with the recessed-channel going down the center of the scoop. A 'low-profile' scoop. which was 80% of the size of the 1963/1964 Max...

D Dart article in Mopar Magazine

D Dart Any article on the 1966 Dodge 'D-Dart' is great. A 'mystery' factory-prepped 'Stocker'. Well done. You can go on and on about these A-Body Bandits, that were designed to tackle the 'highly competitive' NHRA D/Stock Class in 1966. To go after the 'impossible-to-beat' 1961 Corvette...

    Another D/Dart 275/273 question???

Perfacar, Those numbers are pretty close for 'Back-in-the-Day'. In 1970 and 1971, in L/S {NHRA Class} the 'Top' 273/235 HP A-Body Barracuda and Darts were running at a best of 13.50's @ 103 MPH.

    Another D/Dart 275/273 question???

Toolmanmike, Correct, the factory cast iron 273 intake manifold. 1 7/16" Primary and 1 9/16" Secondary throttle-bore hole openings. The single-plane, low-rise intake had narrow runners, which were good for low-end torque. They worked well with the automatic transmission cars. 1965...

    Another D/Dart 275/273 question???

Ed, According to the Gearlord Club who tested the D-Dart at Lions Drags Strip. If the Dart was properly fine-tuned, and you replaced the Inland 4-Speed Shifter with a Hurst Competition/Plus Shifter, 13.90's would have been reached.

    Another D/Dart 275/273 question???

Odd, that Mopar offered the D-Dart with a 'Free-Flowing Intake'. Not sure what they meant by that, as the intake manifold was the same that was on the regular 273/235 HP 'Commando'. The Golden Commando's 'Goldfish' and Doug Patterson 'Brand-X' Barracuda utilized a modified intake when they...

    Another D/Dart 275/273 question???

Back in early 1966, Chrysler Performance played with several camshafts for the D-Dart combination, one was the Iskendarian "Isky 505-C", which was a bit more radical than the Camcraft D-Dart camshaft. Isky #505-C............... .505/.505 - 320* Duration with 108* Overlap Camcraft...

    Another D/Dart 275/273 question???

Remember the 1966 Dodge D-Darts were using 4.86 Gears, and had valve springs rated at #313 lbs. with valve open. Red-Line was 7200 RPM, but shift points were 6500. The D-Dart Camshaft was a bit of a secret back then. Many thought that it was a Racer Brown #ST with a .512 Intake / .480...

I have to get ahold of my Long Island friends on this one. Brodlieb Motors out of Woodmere, New York ran their Barracuda in 1965. It was a 273/180 HP 4-Speed, and was run out at Islip Speedway, and West Hampton Drag Strip out on Eastern Long Island, and later at New York National Speedway.

No 'rhyme or reason' for 1965 Mopar A-Bodies, They were a mish-mosh of combinations when they left the factory, unless it was 'an ordered car'. As for the 8 3/4 rear, it was a mid-1965 addition, and was available with a 3.23 or 3.55 gear ratio. Motor Trend (January 1965)
