    Brake Bleeding

I haven't heard of the "new" way and my car is old. So "old" way it is. Farthest first. And for what its worth I do farthest first on all my newer vehicles too. Regardless, if you look into the physics of the process the only way air is introduced into a sealed system is through the...

Disc Brake Master Cylinder With Drum Brakes?

Interesting question. I would assume you'll get 60% braking to the front drums and 40% to the rear like a disc set up. What I'd be interested in knowing is if the pressure is stronger to front brakes, which could risk the wheel cylinder seal going.

    Just another k.h. Swap thread.

If you do some searching you'll find parts are interchangeable. For example Rock Auto lists different rotor choices for disc brakes on a 69 Dart, yet the "out of stock" rotors are the same part number as the 66 Dart option. Then a 69 Barracuda has even more rotor choices and again the "out of...

All four brakes not releasing - advice needed

That all makes sense to me. Likely the problem. I just found a diagram on page 5-21 of the 69 Service Manual that specifies .910-.920 Thanks for your help.

All four brakes not releasing - advice needed

No I did not. I left it as it was for the previous Master Cylinder. I'm not seeing that in my Service Manual. Is there a specific distance?

All four brakes not releasing - advice needed

Ok guys, All four of my brakes release very slowly. All four wheels get hot due to extra drag. However they do release after some time as I can spin the wheels freely when they cool down. The car has new (rebuilt) Kelsey Hayes callipers, new rear drums and hardware, new distribution valve and...

When Installing Brake Pads Do You...?

Do you guys put anything on the backside of your brake pads, such as RTV, to reduce squealing on your 4 piston KH brakes?

The Kelsey-Hayes Disk Brake Swap Thread

Great original sticky, thanks. Just of note....two of the four bolts that are removed from a 10" drum backing plate are the same length and thread as the "caliper to spindle" bolts required for the KH spindles. So keep those two bolts you may need one or two like I did.

Mopar KH Caliper vs Mustang KH Caliper

Thanks to all. I just found Raybestos for both sides in Canada. I did a bunch of research on the Mopar and the 67 Mustang versions. They are the same other than the flex hose connection and the Mustang ones are $30 cheaper each.

Mopar KH Caliper vs Mustang KH Caliper

So, the drivers side Mopar KH caliper has now come close to extinction. There are some passenger side still available. But I see the 65-66 Mustang KH calipers are almost identical, save and except the means to install the flex hose. Those calipers are readily available and almost half the...

Brake Booster has two studs - Master cylinder has 4 holes

Thanks for the info. The master cylinder I removed was a four bolt that actually had been drilled with two more holes centered to fit the booster instead of using an adapter.

Brake Booster has two studs - Master cylinder has 4 holes

I have found that my brake booster has two studs for the master cylinder to mount to it. The new master cylinder has four holes to be mounted. I have triple checked the new master cyl. part number for my 69 Barracuda and it seems to be correct. So now I am guessing my brake booster is wrong...

    Parking Brake Cable Removal

Keep in mind the firewall grommet can be saved. Yes it can! Or buy a new one for $22. Here's how you save it; After removing the cable from the cross member under the car, cut the old cable with a grinder, removing the end fitting, so it would slide through the grommet easily. Remove the old...

'69 Drum to Kelsey Hayes Disc - Does it change the Backspacing?

Guys, I am switching from SBP drums to SBP Kelsey Hayes discs from a 69 donor car for my 69 car. I'm ordering new wheels too and have to figure out the backspacing. I don't see why there would be a difference in distance between the hub and the wheelwell whether it's drum or disc. Has anyone...
