    '73 Dart Sport Build

When I talk about stiffening the front end I am talking about the amount of flex in the frame forward of the firewall. Here is a little test for you. Jack up the front of your car under the K frame. Place jack stands under the frame rails behind the firewall and then lower the jack and watch...

    '73 Dart Sport Build

My advice is to build the car to handle the kind of power that you are talking about. Frame connectors, torque boxes and make sure that you stiffen up the front end. Once those things are done then you can start throwing parts at it. BTW I run a narrowed 9" with disc brakes from an 8.8 from...

    differnce between a 77 motorhome 440?

A couple of years ago I dropped a 77-78 motorhome 440 into my 66 Fury. I used Schumacher conversion motor mounts from a sb. It dropped in no problem. The problem for you will most likely be the trans, because most of the motorhomes didn't have a slip yoke for the tail shaft. If you find a...

1970 Duster 440 Big block install

You may want to consider installing some frame connectors on that beast. Don't want to twist it the first time that you get on it.

402, IM NEW TO THIS! help please :)

It is fairly easy to get these little 318s over 300 hp fairly easily depending on what heads you have and compression ratio. Cam, intake, carb and a decent set of heads will help. Magnum heads are a good swap and bump up the compression ratio a little with the closed chamber design and came...

    My 383's toast

I have actually seen a lot worse. Moper is right you could take the time to clean the pistons and reuse them if there is not to much of a lip in the cylinder and you budget is tight. The combustion chambers in the heads could be cleaned up also. I would also take the time and make sure all of...

    budget build 440

Unless you are building an all out race motor then I think that you are wasting your time sanding the lifter valley. Like said before I would have the block tanked and checked. Do a basic rebuild on it and you could always upgrade from that point.

    Motor Home 440 swap

I am in the process of installing a 440/727 from a motorhome into a 66 Fury. I planned on swapping everything out to the motorhome tranny, but I actually scored a good BB 727 from JMac'sMopars today for free. Thanks Jeremy that's too cool. I would suggest doing this, because there...

    Motor Home 440 swap

Another thing to look at is the lack of a slip yoke on the motorhome 727 I believe it also has a short tail housing.

    Holley 600 on a 440?

I am throwing a bone stock 440 into my 66 Fury III to sell at a big car show here in July. My goal is to just get the car running to sell it. I have 4 holley 600 cfm carbs sitting around and don't want to have to buy or rebuild another carb. I know that it would be down on power, but would...

    Stroked 400 question.

I am still debating. A local guy has a 400/727 that he claims ran before it was pulled from a truck. It does have a slip yoke for the 727. The motor is complete carb to pan. $400 for everything. I already have 3 motors sitting in my garage. I am running out of space.

    Stroked 400 question.

Is it true that you can drop in a 440 crank into a 400 for 451 cubes? If so what other modifications need to be made other than turning down the mains? Found a local 400/727 combo for cheap and I already have a steel 440 crank.

Looking good. What rockers are you running? I have debated on a big block, but I am compromising with a stroked small block. You have to post a video of it running.

    440 HP manifolds vs. headers

I am sure that this has been done before and I am sorry, but I have located a set of HP manifolds from a cop car with a 440 sitting in a classic car junk yard. How would these fit in an a body and how do they compare flow wise to TTI's or Schumachers? I want to build a good street strip 440...

    500 hp from a 69 440?

I eventually plan on running a rb in the dart and want to start collecting parts for the build. I already have a complete 73 440 from a chrysler, but I have the chance to buy a complete basket case 69 440 for cheap. My question is what are the differences other than compression and a steel...

    Damn! Broken tail shaft section.

You know I hope this guy didn't derby this motor and trans. He told me he didn't, but told me he was saving it to derby and needs the money. Could a shot in the rear cause it to crack?

    Damn! Broken tail shaft section.

Just the housing I think. The shaft looks fine.

    Damn! Broken tail shaft section.

The motor was already pulled when I bought it. So I am not sure what happened. I will find a replacement and have the shop go through it.

    Damn! Broken tail shaft section.

So how much $ does a used one usually go for?

    Damn! Broken tail shaft section.

Well I plan on having the trans built strong. I am going with a stroker kit from 440 source and a set of their heads.

    Damn! Broken tail shaft section.

I took my recent good buy on a so called running recently pulled 74 Chrysler 80k mi. 440 727 combo to the carwash today to see whats under the grease and oil. I discovered a big crack in the tail shaft section of the trans. I am yet to tear into anything and I hope I didn't get taken. I only...
