Looking at smallblock tunnel rams and notice Weiand has 2 tops available, a 1995 and a 1917. I have not been able to find info on the 1917 so what is the difference between the 2 tops. Basically what is the use of each??

What is your experience in using a 4.250 crank in a smallblock. I'm sure clearancing at bottom of cylinder would be required but is there anything else?

You could certainly be correct it could be a T/A block with 4 bolt caps added. I didn't even think about that and I used to own one.

What happened on this situation? Was the block an X and if not what was it?

The main caps on my X block extend all the way to the pan rail. I've had to massage every pan I've installed to go over the caps. I'd certainly make sure that is an X block.

My block is bored to 4.100 and many gaskets are either 4.125 or 4.180. Which is best for a compression of 13:1 and either .050 or .060 thickness??

No cam companies offer them and the last time I checked no lifter manufacturers made them either and would not make a special set. It cost so much to sleeve the lifter bores that the block has been resting on an engine stand for years.

The best I can tell it was cast on 2/8/72. There is no tag riveted to the block. All 16 lifters are oversize. Mopar used to sell oversize lifters. When I bought 16 for this engine about 85 or 86 there were only 52 in inventory. Unobtainable now.

That part no is for a Large Port Commando. If so W2/5 rockers will work just fine.

One may be worse than the others but they all may have some degradation. You need to take it apart and ck/repair all of it!!

Years ago when one of my W2 heads starting leaking like that I replaced that composite gasket with a cometic of same thickness. Problem gone!!!

They came in both 2 bolt and 4 bolt. I've got a 4 bolt that I've been using for better than 20 years. Mine is currently 4.1 bore but will go to 4.125 safely. Oil tube hole not drilled.

1Badcolt, R&R Speed and Machine in Huntsville, AL does lifter bushings. A little expensive and usually backlogged but do excellent work!!
