racing roll cage fabricator northern california

Not really relevant as it was some 20 years ago. The price has probably gone up a bit by now..... It was about $800-1000 then, as I recall. That was for a welded in SCCA vintage approved roll bar, with the cross brace removable so the rear seat could be used. (It has since been welded in place...

racing roll cage fabricator northern california

Try Magnum Force: 1436 White Oaks Rd # 7, Campbell, CA 95008 Phone: 408-559-6633 I had them put a roll bar into my 66 Barracuda many years ago and they did a great job.

    Brake fluid for M/C

I have a road race car that can also be used on the street occasionally, and I use Motul 600, a type 4 fluid, with a very high boiling point. There are issues with DOT 5 (silicone), and if used the entire system must be flushed first, as it is not compatible with either DOT 3 or DOT 4.

Ever let someone else Drive your car????

Mine is a road race car, and yes, I have let other road race car drivers run the car. Great feedback, as I am rather used to the way it handles, and a second/third opinion is always good!

    It's "Sideview Monday"!!

I had a chance to get my newly "put back together" road race '66 Barracuda out to a local car show on Saturday after a month long engine pull project to replace a leaky rear main seal. No oil leaks, (hooray!), but several of the sparkplug wires were not properly pushed all the way down into...

340 rear main choices- race motor

New MP block, with an old forged crank. I did not build the motor, it was built by a guy that was a Mopar engine expert here in the PNW. He has since passed..... My assumption is that he did everything right. The pan is an 7 qt aluminum Charlie's unit, and does not use gaskets. It uses a...

340 rear main choices- race motor

No, there is no oil on the breathers at all. I did not put any oil on them, figuring that the engine would do that itself, but they are still clean, inside and out. I have been road racing this car for 20 years now, and never had this issue before this last build with the MP 4 bolt main...

340 rear main choices- race motor

I have both valve covers ventilated into a cross over pipe with a couple of breathers on it. There is almost no air coming out of those vents, so I don't think it is a pressure issue. My engine builder was concerned that I am using an old crank (that used the rope) in a new block (that uses the...

340 rear main choices- race motor

My Barracuda vintage race engine (7000 RPM 340 T/A block ) has a leaky rear main seal, so I have it on the engine stand, pan removed and ready to replace. The problem is, what to replace it with? Timkin 5414 from Summit $44.97 (the most expensive, maybe) Felpro BS 40245 from Summit...

    **Snell Approved Racing Helmet's - SA2010 vs M2010**

What everybody is saying is correct. The only difference between a SA and M helmet is that the SA has interior padding made of Nomex for extra fire retardancy. As far as the quality of the helmets, it is kind of like you always hear famous TV contractor Mike Holmes talk about "minimum code"...

    lightening car

Plexiglas side and rear windows, aluminum heads on engine, aluminum intake, aluminum case for tranny (if a 4 speed). Aluminum radiator, aluminum master cylinder, and aluminum driveshaft. Headers are often lighter than cast iron manifolds. I think there may even be a aluminum center section for...

    Fact or Fiction--Trailer tie downs

I have towed my Barracuda road race car for many thousands of miles all across the country, and have never given one thought about wearing out or heating up the cuda's shocks! I have an enclosed trailer, and use four 3" wide ratcheting tie downs. The front uses a pair of straps that wrap around...

    Race-gas

BUT, one advantage of the "good stuff" like Sunoco 110 is the added lead, which will help valves and seats survive 7,000 RPM red-lines! That is all I run in my fish.

A-body race cars at CPW Spring Fling?

Just wondering how many other A-body race cars will be at the Spring Fling show in CA on April 5-6? I will be towing my Barracuda down from the Portland, OR area, with a stop to the Thursday track day at Willow Springs put on by Tim at AllTime racing. For the drag types I understand there will...

Help-Setting up a trailer for Racing

#1 thing to carry in a trailer that I don't think has been mentioned yet: A spare tire for the trailer, and some way to change it (jack, wrench, etc). I have logged many thousands of miles with my car trailer, and have rarely had a trip of any considerable distance where I did not blow at least...

which harness style, latch or camlock

That is why I said that the drag guys may have other rules to live by. If in doubt, check the rule book!

which harness style, latch or camlock

I will agree. The camlock are easier to use and more comfortable (at least for me), but since they have to be replaced every 2 years the latch are much easier on the wallet. I don't know how it is with the drag guys, but in vintage road racing if you get FIA certified belts they are good for 5...

    whats the leanest cylinder?

I can tell you that the cylinder that exploded due to lean detonation in my Barracuda was #8. It gets my vote! Nasty things happen when the rod and piston falls out of the block too.

    Introduction

Yup, I did take the car to Las Vegas a number of years ago. The car is fresh off a restoration from a major engine fire in 2012, so I am starting to get active with it again: I know Dave, Matt, Tim from Alltime Racing, and others here from the MOPAX list, but there seems to be a lot more...

    Introduction

This is just a brief introduction for a new member (although several members already know me...). My name is Mike, and I have an addiction. I am addicted to racing my vintage Mopar, just about like everybody else here. I have a 1966 Barracuda Formula S that was converted many years ago (about...

Trans-Am info for the 1966 Barracuda

Chris; Send me an e-mail, ([email protected]), or call: 503-366-2881. I can tell you just about everything you need to know. I have been vintage racing my fish for almost 20 years now, and even have all the FIA paperwork. Mike Ritz, the "new" Team Starfish Racing
