Dat Dusty Dart, a sympathetic rebuild with some enhancements.

OK - I am the second registered owner. I bought this from a long time friend who patiently cultivated a relationship with the original owner for YEARS until he was willing to sell it to him and him only. He's known on Mopar threads as UCUDANT. Anyway, here's a few more pics of what I am starting...

Dat Dusty Dart, a sympathetic rebuild with some enhancements.

I’ll be posting a lot of older content here while I get caught up to the present time. For now, here’s a pic from it’s first night home in Jan 2014. More later.

    Dartin for Divorce

I get to Vegas every once and a while.... we should have lunch the next time, all’s invited. You’re cracking me up as well as being quite inspirational. Our wives could trade stories.... my kiddos are all grown, but your youngins would certainly be well welcomed! These are the reasons I got...

    Dartin for Divorce

Me too... I got my washer out with a combination of a mag-tool and a coat hanger. It took me over 30 minutes. The rubbery bushing is still in there... I was cursing up a storm when a couple of salty sailors walked past and I made them blush. I ended up stuffing a paper towel to block off that...

    67 Plymouth Valiant Signet 2Dr Sedan with 273 & A/C

(I love this build and all the care that goes into it. I also feel your every setback for it too. I've done some business with you in the past for 742 for my dart. We had a good phone call during the process. You're a straight up guy - my best for you and yours.) Stay at it brother - Mopar...

    67 Plymouth Valiant Signet 2Dr Sedan with 273 & A/C

I sure do admire the attention to detail on this build. Really sorry that you've had issues with some people that you paid good money to, to work on your car. I enjoy following this thread.

How do you take the old tail panel Dodge GTS stickers off without dinging up the panel?

    My 69 Dart build.

Well I've seen worse! Is it a 69 sporting 68 tail lights? You must have some awesome fab skills, I don't have the skills to save a car like that, but I am happy there are folks like you that can and do! Welcome!

    1969 Dodge Dart GTS

Concerning your exhaust manifolds, do you have any plans to improve the flow? I've heard some talk about guys extrude honing their exhaust manifolds. Just curious, I have a plan too but it changes from time to time. I do enjoy exploring ways of making sneaky power mods to the engine. After...

    Geo's 1969 Swinger 340 thread

My box was mailed out today. Should be there NLT Thursday. It barely fit inside of a USPS Priority box (Large). If I could have removed the FN pitman arm, it would have fit into a smaller box.... Meh. There's a 3 week turnaround on them. I'm good with all that. I'll work on the new sway bar...

PS: I must be thick headed - I can't figure out how to upload photos and place text between them - like captions. Makes it hard for y'all to read and for me to explain what I am talking about.... What am I missing?

    Geo's 1969 Swinger 340 thread

I painted the upper and lower control arms - went with black for both (sorry purists!). This weekend I pulled the steering box off and took the steering column out. I'll box up the steering box soon and mail it off to Firm Feel for a rebuild and a 20:1 gear inside of it. I'm going to let them...

Thanks guys - This can get painful at times, but it will be so satisfying to know my car from end to end when its done. I love these cars - the lines that shout 60s styling. Mine will surely be driven a lot when its done. Love seeing these old Mopars on the street.

    Geo's 1969 Swinger 340 thread

It pays to have friends with a garage full of tools and access to a shop - if needed. The 80 ton press we used here made it pretty easy. Just need to clean and paint them - along with the uppers and a few other bits. Need to get my new bushings on the sway bar brackets next - which I...

    Geo's 1969 Swinger 340 thread

Thanks Kevin - It's hard for me to get focused sometimes... and not wonder off at start work on another section of the car! I am taking a slight detor looking for a place to ship my manual steering box off to for a rebuild. I need to grab some rotors too. Once I get the bushings into the LCAs...

    Geo's 1969 Swinger 340 thread

OK - now I can concentrate on nothing but reassembly of the front end. Should another one of these cross my path later, I'll approach it with more confidence. There's more reading and note taking I could have done... but you live and learn. I've never been this deep into a ft end before and...

    Geo's 1969 Swinger 340 thread

As I was cleaning stuff - and that gave me plenty of time to think, I wanted to improved upon a few things from when Ma Mopar built it. Offset bushings for the upper control arms came to mind and so did boxing in the lowers. BTW: I bought the tool set from American Muscle and that was handy...

Finally getting to it!!! 1970 Duster 340

Hi Kevin, I'll surely be following your build now. I've just spent some time reading all of this. Your background in the OR must serve you well in this restro - attention to details and all. I too recognized the blue wrap - I was a medial logistician in the AF and ordered all of everything...
