Back 25 or so years ago my 64 Signet was black and beautiful with a few spots worn through. I painted it, paint today is still beautiful with a couple worn spots yet not as worn as the original paint... Whatever you decide, do it right.....

Tell you the truth, I think all Carnuba Wax sucks for longevity no matter which manufacturer. I used Meguiar's for many years, I even took a class from them back in the mid 80's when they had more than just wax and glaze. I use the clay bar occasionally and a glaze when I need quick gloss...

You can do any color in any paint, satin or flat just by the amount of deadener used in the clear..

I used POR15 over 25 years ago, still on there today, must have been the original owners back then.. Yet I only done the underneath of the Signet. BTW, and there wasn't any rust to begin with, just done it as a precautionary act of kindness..

Though not the same, I built this one for my 64 Signet which enclosed the air cleaner. You can basically do the same for your type and using rubber moulding to meet the under hood so no air escapes from your scoop to carburetors. Hope this helps

I painted the underneath of my 64 Signet in the 80's with POR 15 even though it wasn't rusted. 25 years later the underneath still looks new.

The only way you will have clear coat issues is if the preparation for paint is done by a 5 year old toddler. Painting the engine bay any other color than the exterior of the car is showing how one's ability is to screw things up.

My 64 Signet came out of NuYawk with 62K on the odometer and it was a rust free car, bought it in the early 80's. Most NuYawkers have garages and not storage facilities where their car should be like they do on the Left coast. And to top it off, I'd rather repair a couple rust spots than replace...

To put this mildly, I just ordered paint and material to paint one of my vehicles and it came to just under a thousand dollars. Than there's labor in prepping which includes sanding, smoothing and removing chrome, door handles and other trim, glass etc. Masking tapes, paper and lets not forget...

I painted mine using a spray can. I wiped my finger with Vaseline and rubbed the top edge and sides of the chrome not to be painted, used the rattle can, let the paint dry and than removed the vaseline

I've seen this look go away on its own yet when I need it to disappear, I use Rapid Remover by Rapid Tac. A sign shop should have some on their shelf, stop by and ask them. It contains lemonene which is citrus based and will not hurt your finish. I'm a 50+ year hand pinstriper and know my tools...

Use what's recommended in the 2 stage and you can't go wrong. I painted my Signet in 1990 with 2 stage Concept and still looks great today.. Here's a look a few months back
