I run Pump E85 from the same store (sheetz) I have a 15 gallon cell and fill up 2 or 3 race fuel cans usually every visit. Ran the same with both the summer and winter mix. Early spring it was $1.85....now (summer mix) its $3.09. Same results either way. It's not horrible just a brain scratcher.

Main je Main jet wells have been drilled. They also drilled the air bleeds so would that effect my lean problem on tip in and WOT from cruise? Would I be better off getting another main body with the IAB jets?

Yea the carb was converted by a reputable carb shop. They did all the necessaries

Got a reply email from Rob Mix (E85Carbs). He said E70 is a wintermix, E85 as summer. He said even with E50 it'll still have the octane I'd need for my engine!!

So just say if I fill up at the pump and the mix is E70 what all would I need to do to steer away from detonation? Jet change and dial back timing?

Lol that's all I know about it...it was converted from a carburetor shop somewhere in Tennessee. It had very low run time on a running car. They drained the bowls and cleaned them before they stored it

It's a E85 Converted Holley 750DP

There is a company about 4 hrs away from me that sells E98 by the drum. I haven't had time to see if there were any other local companies but it's on my to do list. Compared to a drum of VP110 if I were to mix it it'd still save $$$ even for the drive

I'd love to run pump gas but my engine is an iron headed 408 with 11.47:1 compression. Even with my cam it still puts me on a VERY fine line. Personally I'd rather not take a chance

Only downfall is I'll be running a E85 carburetor. Idk if maybe the mix is so low due to it being the enter months? They say they add more gasoline in those months due to starting issues bug I'm not 100% on that

So I'm in the process of converting my 408 to E85. At my local pump they have Flex Fuel (E85) but it's rated at 51-83% Ethanol. Question is if you have your tune set for 85ish % what do you do? For instance when you do the water/E85 test and come up with say 51% what can you do to bring it...

I ran the gas almost out before i parked it and replaced it with new but the gas that sat in the carb was old which is why im im hop thats the problem

Gas is clear. I ran it low before i parked it and replaced it with fresh. The filter is clear as with the gas in the bowls

Well that aleast gives me some hope. I know though if I'd put a 4bbl on it itd scream like no tomorrow, but I just wanna make it "look" sluggish. My plans are to build the 451, modded 516 heads, manifolds, bigger cam, etc. Also I got it for a real good price...FREE!!
