    I ran in to this debacle about 4 years ago. I ended up getting a junk yard power steering pump w/ pulley. Then getting a custom made hose, which was another whole debacle on to itself. I hope you find an easier way than I did!

    haha, no problem... It is of my understanding that if you switch to a hydraulic cam, you stay with hydraulic lifters... are you replacing anything else in the engine, or is this just a cam swap?

    I'm no expert on the 273, as I only have worked with 318's and 360's, but I think it would depend on the cam shaft. Are you using the original cam or have you switched it out? What year is your engine? From what I just searched, the 273 switched to hydraulic in 68'..

    Are you actually racing the car, or do you want something to cruise around town in? I'd think you'd have to do some considerable work to your 318 and your car to get it into that time range. Probably over that $6,000 mark you have pointed out....

    Wrong valve stem seals???

    You'd think Fel Pro would be good? aren't there two types of seals though? I haven't done this in 8 years, but I thought in the kit there were two types of seals... still doesn't explain why they are cracked.... maybe they were old and sitting on the shelf exposed to air?
