That riser for a heat choke hits that fuel line. I was insanely mad about it. I'd recommend just buying some flex line. :)

If you buy the Edelbrock Performer carb and buy the banjo fuel line from Edelbrock, you'll have to machine down that little tower on the passenger side. I just did it today :) Before: After:

I ran in to this debacle about 4 years ago. I ended up getting a junk yard power steering pump w/ pulley. Then getting a custom made hose, which was another whole debacle on to itself. I hope you find an easier way than I did!

What valve springs are you running? Maybe they are too strong? Just an idea. I really have no clue. :)

I remember my buddy painted his full length headers a few years back white... They looked good until we installed them! They got dirty REAL easily :(

Just off the top of my head, Chrysler switched to Hydraulic probably because of reliability and ease of construction... If there are no rockers to adjust, then that's one less thing to tune... also, putting together the top end of a 318 or 360 is fast when you don't have to adjust rockers... I'm...

haha, no problem... It is of my understanding that if you switch to a hydraulic cam, you stay with hydraulic lifters... are you replacing anything else in the engine, or is this just a cam swap?

I'm no expert on the 273, as I only have worked with 318's and 360's, but I think it would depend on the cam shaft. Are you using the original cam or have you switched it out? What year is your engine? From what I just searched, the 273 switched to hydraulic in 68'..

Are you actually racing the car, or do you want something to cruise around town in? I'd think you'd have to do some considerable work to your 318 and your car to get it into that time range. Probably over that $6,000 mark you have pointed out....

my 318 had grade 5 stock..... I snapped one YEARS ago.... I only have one grade 8 now, but hopefully I'll change them ALL some day....

You'd think Fel Pro would be good? aren't there two types of seals though? I haven't done this in 8 years, but I thought in the kit there were two types of seals... still doesn't explain why they are cracked.... maybe they were old and sitting on the shelf exposed to air?

My only advise would be to pull the heads and put new seals in...... I'm not much help! :D
