    Correct upper coolant hose?

I picked up a 60910, I suspect it will just kink and leak like the flex hose but we'll see.

    Correct upper coolant hose?

Hey guys. The local Napa has been unable to find the correct upper coolant hose for my 1970 duster. It's a 225, with a thermostat housing that has the hose coming out straight up, and the outlet on the radiator is on the passenger side sticking straight out. We tried a couple different hoses and...

Re-routed the fuel line, but still having warm start problems

There is a gasket under the carb, looks like about 1/4 thick to me. The carb probably could use a rebuild. So when I find the time I will rebuild the carb, replace the float, and do the timing and valves and see how it is then. Maybe next week. Thanks for the help, guys.

Re-routed the fuel line, but still having warm start problems

My 1970 duster with a 225 was having warm start problems so I re-routed the fuel line and relocated the fuel filter behind the alternator as I have seen suggested. But I still seem to be having the same problems. I might be a little better. The car starts and runs perfectly fine when cold. If I...

225 Slant six with trans value

I'm interested in one and if I found a complete engine+tranny like yours locally I personally might pay up to $150. But yes, they do often go for free and there isn't much of a market for them. I want one so I could do a turbo build and keep my original engine unmolested.

    Installing temp guage sensor(aftermarket)

IF you decide you want to fix the factory setup like cudamark said, I have a set of working temp and fuel gauges that I haven't gotten around to posting for sale. Let me know if you want them. Check your gauges first before asking for replacements... I learned that the hard way (I thought my...

    Sending unit float?

I consider myself frugal (even cheap) but the fuel sending unit is the kind of thing that I went ahead and just replaced. I paid $45 for the whole thing (came with sock and gasket), you can get it for $35 but I went with stainless steel. I'd rather do it once and be done, it should last another...

What is the trick to getting the valve cover off a /6 with AC?

It's a 1970 duster. I got the valve cover off, when I swiveled the AC unit to get the belt off, I had just enough room to get the valve cover out. Now it's got some fresh paint drying on it and tomorrow morning I will be able to have everything back together, with new belts, hoses, thermostat...

What is the trick to getting the valve cover off a /6 with AC?

Doing lots of stuff on my duster today, one thing I want to do is paint the valve cover and install a new gasket. Took a quick crack at it and I couldn't figure out how to snake the cover out. The AC hose is in the way. Advice?

Sometimes my air conditioner makes noise, sometimes not

Just asking to see if anyone thinks my AC is OK. It's a 1970 duster with a 225, has 52,000 miles. I have a lot of service records with the car and I don't see anything about the AC in there, it's most likely all original. The AC does still work, but sometimes when I turn it on it works perfectly...

    Electric fan????

Is there a writeup on how to do the swap? I'm interested in it for the mileage gain.

MSD ignition installed, now I'm thinking transmission time?

I'm also interested to hear about this. I'm getting ahead of myself but I'm sure in the future I will want a four speed or overdrive. How much would the MSD stuff be if you installed it yourself? And let us know when you get an idea of the effect on gas mileage. I really want to squeeze all...

NGK ZFR5N plugs, yes or no?

Nope, he's got an acura :protest: actually he just picked up a 79 trans am project car so at least he's getting closer to a car worth owning. He's not a mopar guy at all and I knew I should have just told him to shut up and order them, oh well, I'll tell him that tomorrow :) Thanks guys.

NGK ZFR5N plugs, yes or no?

These are the plugs I've seen recommended after searching the net, but when I went to order them at Napa my friend who works there was reluctant to get them for me and told me to go with the regular ones because he thinks these ones just aren't correct and won't work. Now he's got me doubting...

Sticky throttle on my 225 1970 duster

Thanks, but I imagine I only need the cable, and I'd rather use a brand new one, so unless for some reason I can't get one or it is prohibitively expensive I will pass on your offer.

Sticky throttle on my 225 1970 duster

I didn't think about that at first but being familiar with cable throttles on motorcycles, the symptoms seem the same now that you mention it. That's probably the problem, thanks.

Sticky throttle on my 225 1970 duster

Just got the duster a few days ago and haven't driven it except home and then up and down the street a couple times. I did get the engine running real nice and smooth but the throttle is sticky. Sometimes it will return but not all the way, leaving it idling fast (but I do not believe it is...
