72 duster power steering to manual

Yes you will need a manual steering pitman arm, your power arm will not work.

72 duster power steering to manual

That flaming river stuff confused me when I switched to manual steering, so I ended up searching for a manual column. I'm glad I waited, I got a manual steering, floor shift column to go with my floor shifter.

    Steering column interchange?

I am by no means very experienced with these cars, but the 68 bolted into my 73 with no modifications. All the plates lined up and worked just fine. I did have to modify the area around the ignition tumbler though. I just had to drill a small hole for the 73 ignition tumbler to lock in place in...

    Steering column interchange?

If both of them are the same type (either manual or power) there shouldn't be a problem. I put a 68 manual steering culumn in my 73 power steering car and just had to change the steering gear box.

    power steering box/column-to manual 74scamp

I think (just guessing though) that your tierod ends should work. It looks like you can just turn them 180 degrees if you end up using an older drag link.

    power steering box/column-to manual 74scamp

It's amazing how many opinions there are on this subject. All I know for sure is: I bought a 73 manual steering pitman arm for my 73 duster, it fits perfectly on the 68 manual steering box, and fits right in the center link from the top, not bottom. I found one thread on here saying the same...

    power steering box/column-to manual 74scamp

The tapered stud does not come in from the other side if you order a pitman arm for a 73 or later. It is shaped exactly like the 73 power steering pitman, except the hole is smaller to fit the manual box.

    power steering box/column-to manual 74scamp

You can use a 68 or 69 manual box, just get a manual pitman arm from the parts store, or like said above, get the pitman, idler and drag link from the same year as the box. I put a 68 manual box on my 73, and with just a 73 manual pitman it seems to work just fine.

    caster question

I agree with not using adj strut rods. They are designed to keep the lower control ARM centered and in place. I was not able to get positive caster in my duster with the amount of rake the car has. I bought a set of tubular upper control arms. They have rod ends that are adjustable, along with...

Question: Not enough Caster adjustment in my big block Duster.

The alignment shop I took my car to is very well trusted. The owner is a racer with some really nice bracket cars, and his alignment guy does ALL the work on his cars, plus most of the racers in the area. He did everything he could to align it. I ended up buying a set of adjustable upper A arms...

Question: Not enough Caster adjustment in my big block Duster.

Well I have done some research and most of it confuses me. I was told that when doing a big bolt pattern disc brake swap that you cannot use parts from 73 or later B bodies because it will mess up the geometry. I have no way of knowing what parts I have. I found a part number on the lower...

Question: Not enough Caster adjustment in my big block Duster.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm at the track this weekend racing the wifes car and will check into this when I get home.

Question: Not enough Caster adjustment in my big block Duster.

I have a 73 Duster with a 440 that was a slant 6 car originally. It has the original K member. It has manual disc brakes and power steering. I picked up the car with the big block already in it. I completely redid the front end with a rebuild kit from PST. I took it in for alignment and they...
