Sounds like new drag racing, donut circuses fines going up.

It wouldn't hurt if Krasner, Philliy's Soros appointed DA, would allow the cops to do something. They can't even pull over a car with lights out, or no license plate. Nor do they want to. They get released and continue on. Why should a cop go out on the line, when the system doesn't cooperate?

    LED vs Incandescant

Thank you. Nothing you said there that wasn't said when I was racing. And that's exactly what I wanted to hear! I'm still not sure I'm going to do it, but since I do the test n tune thing, I may as well. From what I understand, bracket racing is not as common as it once was. I go to Cecil...

    LED vs Incandescant

I haven't raced competitively since christmas trees had incandescent bulbs. I used to be able to see the light coming on, being on, and going out, as lots of racers did. Always foot braked, .500 tree. One car ran mid 14's, the other 11.60's. This was in the 80's and 90's. Since then, I have...

    Lightweight front bumper brackets

It used to be that brackets like that were illegal in Stock. I know tech inspections are few and far between anymore. Has your friend's car ever been teched with those brackets? Stock used to have to be stock, but things have changed.

    Fire extinguisher

I like those aspects, too. But if they don't work, they're no help. Unfortunately, it would be expensive to test them. I may get a couple of those, too. I'm guessing you can tell when/if they're expired, or just plain no good anymore. I'll have to see. Edit: The site says as long as it is...

    Fire extinguisher

The link in post #1 has a Jay Leno video. The guy he interviews says the Element doesn't displace oxygen and it's not toxic. He doesn't use it on a fire in the Jay Leno vid. Hmmmm. It sure doesn't appear to work very well in the video in post #14. Years ago, my partner was driving through the...

I appreciate what you're saying. But I think the numbers are a bit deceiving. The car seems to lay down a bit at the top end. If that's the case, the mph is not what it should be, skewing the numbers. It was worse. I had the wrong power valve in it. It was closing when it needed gas...

I have the shifter partially dissembled. It looks like it won’t be too hard to change the shift pattern to RVB. Grind some metal, and screw and/or weld a piece in another place. I’ll update after I see how it goes.

I went back Friday night (11-03) for what will be my last trip of the year. This is just a toy, but it's fun trying to get things working right. I got runs number 9-12 on this new car, so I'm learning. My biggest problem has been the Quarter Stick. Looking closer, and with a friend's advice...

Seems like a good track. I wish I was closer than 2 1/2 hours. Darn, sorry I missed you. I guess it was in the lanes? I was there waiting, most of the time, like everyone, for a run. It was crowded! I was probably in the only shade at the place, next to the concession stand.

Very nice car! I'm going again Friday night. I'm just sorting out my car, then the body and paint torture (at least it is for me) begins. I have to learn more about SSCS. The last time I raced was the 80s and 90's. There was either NHRA class racing or brackets. I did some of each...

I got 4 runs total. Third, I spun the tires AND shifted 1st to 3rd (AGAIN!) Fourth was another 11.80 (at 109, the other 11.80 was at 110) I gotta have a heart to heart with that Quarter stick. Overall, it was a success. There's only 8 runs on the car, and I'm learning about it. And yes, it...

Place is packed. Two runs in 3 hours. Shifted first to third in first run. 11.92 @ 109. Second run was good. 11.80 @ 110.

I’m guessing this is to slow the Mopars down

But you know a class racer will do it. And NHRA tech has been lax the last few years. (Meaning, the racers can take more chances as to how they remove it..) The weight reduction part is curious, though. Maybe a typo somewhere along the line? Whoops, didn't mean the bold font.

I’m guessing this is to slow the Mopars down

Why did they slow the blower AND lower the weight?

Let’s have a good track weather (bar, temp, humidity, corrected altitude) discussion

When I last raced (in the 90's), some guys swore by their e.t. predicting devices (anything from the temp/baro/hygrometer gizmo on the living room wall, to whatever the lastest hi tech gizmo was), and some swore at them. We did record weather info (we used a buddy's "weather station"), etc. in...

    Taking It To The Track

Soooo, I got the car running better. Using the thread mentioned before, I drove it and got 13" of vacuum between 2200ish and 3000 rpm. 60% of that is 7.8. I took out the 2.5 valve, and put in an 8.5. While I can't run it up to 6k in third gear to see if it lays over like it did at the track...

I ran Stock with a partner for a few years in the 90's (71 Road Runner 440 6bbl D/SA). They looked it over when it was new, but just random checks after that. I may contact the track in question before I contact the division. But it's been so many years that they've done shoddy...

It shouldn't matter, but this was a "Test n Tune" night. It's been a long time since I raced, and I only go for the test nights occasionally. Five years ago or so, a tech guy inspected my Fox Body by saying, "Cool". ???????

Thanks for the reply, Demonracer. As Del mentions, my car is LEGAL! He didn't look at ANYTHING other than my helmet and belt dates, on a car that I TOLD HIM had never been down the track before. And to reiterate, how do they get away with not inspecting cars properly? This was not my first...

My car doesn't run below 11.50. This excerpt from the 2023 rule book says that because I don't require a SFI 2" etc. harness (11.49 and quicker), I can run an expired SFI without an issue. Mine is dated 2019. I don't have a roll bar, and only use the lap belt portion of the SFI. When I went...

    Taking It To The Track

I scanned that thread last night. I’m going to read it more closely. I know vacuum holds it shut. Writing about this is harder than talking about it! So yes, I was confusing a leaking PV with one that just may be open at idle, or whatever vacuum/rpm. Thanks for the help. I’ll update after...

    Taking It To The Track

Yes, I need to see what vacuum it has in gear, at idle. (I'll also check cruise vacuum.) And also see if it's pulling vacuum at the top end, and try to use a PV that won't close at the top end. If it's not closing the 2.5 that's in it, none of this matters and I need to look elsewhere! Thanks...
