had one in my 55 chev.dad was mr goodwrench forever...it worked but they needed more stall.replaced it with a vega converter it stalled 3200. tore up that 400 turbo....to be young....

i think the mechanic didnt tighten the bellhousing bolts and they fell out.or just didnt seat the trans tothe block.i have fixed this issue twice on cars myfreinds bought. just make sure everything is tight going back together you will be fine....

i say if its clean ,leave it til ten thou,you know those transmissions were tough.if its got six on it now ,it could be changed at ten.along with the diff oil too....

belive it or not my buddy in the nintys got a scamp free because the trans seal went bad and it leaked bad.that fool for a couple of weeks would pull upto the island at the gas station and fill it with water! i **** you not.it worked for abouttwo weeks.....was refering to they work on 30 wt.....lol
