    90* Oil Filter Adapter Gasket

To replace the 90* Oil Filter Adapter Gasket, does the motor mount need to be unbolted and the engine jacked up to get the adapter bolt out? How much oil will be lost, just the quart in the filter? Thanks. I just don't want to get caught in the middle unaware.

    Is this a good combo for a 273 ?

The D4B is for the 1964/5 only (different bolt angle on the heads) and was supposed to be a good upgrade. I had one that I never used and sold after it sat around a while. The edelbrock 600 CFM performer is very close to performance as the original formula S Carter AFB 3853/4 S. This should be a...

    ???273 Commando Question???

toolmanmike knows this stuff. I will be there (don't know spot yet) and I will be selling 273 commando decals that are made on correct gauge aircraft aluminum and looks very nice. The only discrepancy is the color has sort of a translucent look, not opaque, when in direct sunlight. Give 'em a...

    273 Build

I am jealous! I haven't started my 273 yet. Still trying to finish up the brakes ("if you can't stop it, don't start it") is my philosophy. Hoping for a noonday start tomorrow! Way to go Toolman!

Rebuilt motor just started and over heats

When the distributer gear is dropped in, it goes past the gear on the cam which rotates the distributer gear about two gear teeth's worth. If you lined it up when you dropped it in, then it is off. Either re-align the distributer gear by removing it and putting it in properly, or, and I am not...

    273 wont start

If it is running, it is not 180 out. Each piston has two upstrokes, one for compression, and one for exhausting. You want the one for compression when the exhaust valve is closed (both are closed, actually). To be sure, pull the number one plug, or if no plugs, leave it out. Stick your finger or...

oil pan has a hole in it

If it's on a stand, money is no issue, get a new pan. I have made all kind of fixes when in a pinch; JB Weld, coat hangers, vice grips (drove a VW for 2 years with two small off brand vice grips holding spindly wires to the battery terminals, LOL) duct tape, zip ties, you name it. But if...

    Hp 273 photos needed

My 273 is in! I was surprised when I got home from taking my kids to school that my buddy, Keith, had used the engine hoist to raise the body, roll the motor/tranny combo under there, and i arrived home in time to put a jack on the tranny to push it up an inch or so. Took 20 minutes to install...
