    New Trans, lost reverse...

I am a retired RV tech, I hate working on crap, I hate flagging. I got all the tools too. When I go to the drags, I try to have it all in order, so I don't have to turn wrenches. If I break, I load er' up and go home.I have pulled my share of tranny's in the pits, with gear oil running down my...

The guy that built it was there,he just blew him off. He was building the car, the trans was a year old, but...

727 into early A body shifter probs

Which B&M shifter? I had that issue in my Valiant when I installed a B&M Pro Bandit. The guy gave me the wrong gate in the shifter (I bought it new, un-installed off ebay). I had a similar issue when I put my wife's 727 in her Dart back on the column, with all the factory stuff. I had to drill a...

8 3/4 guru need your help

When you loose an 8 3/4, you will normally roll the sprauge in a 727 also,if not at the time, but eventually. So lets keep things staright about breakage. It's not just throw another pumpkin in. Ford guys use 8.8's because they are cheaper, and work well in lower HP cars,in stock configuation. All...

Loose HP?.... That's a new one.....I will let all the Top sportsman, Top dragsters, promods, and all the other bazzillion racers that run 9" diffs know that. Lets agree to dis-agree, bottom line, I'd rather put less cash in a 9" then a 8 3/4....did my time with those, and they did serve me well...

8 3/4 guru need your help

The reason for the back brace is because as your car leaves the starting line, and your tires stay at the starting line because they are sticking, the housing will flex. When it does, the pinion trys to pull away from the ring gear. This is why the ring gear begins to chip at the outter edge...

Everyone will dis-agree with this. I only know this from experience in my 600 HP,3300 lb Duster, Grinner Brake,Ladder bar and 14 X 32's.If you run the 742 case (not 489), along with a back brace, it will live. The only thing is, as you know they don't make the Pro Gears any more. I always had...

3.91 gears for shorter 60 mph trips

Too Low for me: I have a 340 6pk 4spd 73 cuda with 3:90's 29" tire. It is fun to drive, but I wouldn't leave town and evade freeways as much as possible. My wife has a 71 Dart with 360 2500 Hughes converter, 28" tire, and 3:55's it is just as bad. Everybody was right on with the 3000 RPM's @ 60...
