    tips for spraying primer

I have some bad news, if you have little divots in the paint, spraying on another layer will leave little bubbles under the new primer, what will happen in the future, once you cover it with paint, is that will be able to see everywhere there was a bubble, it will shrink more in those spots. If...

Grille restoration, I need your opinions

The bright silver will degrade quicky and will rub off, the darker silver will probably last longer. I would paint the outside trim silver, then the center grill dark, then spray it all with a clear to seal it. Remember, the cleaner and better prepped the substrate is, the longer it will last.

    etching primer

Bare metal requires something, factory primer needs to be sealed. You can spray etch on the bare spots, but not on anything else. And you are limited to what you can put over etch. You can also spray epoxy over bare and primer, but it does not sand well, you need something over it if you sand...

    Painter's I need advice!!

You do not have to strip existing primers as long as you have properly applied them. Seal everything with a sealer, or better yet an epoxy primer reduced 20% to make it a sealer. Just make sure everything is as smooth and finished as possible before spraying the epoxy (its very hard to sand...

Testing with Duplicolor Paint Shop paint.

Its technically laquer, but it uses acetone as a base, so you thin it with acetone. This makes it much more environmentally friendlier, as acetone is heavier than air, it does not affect air quality. Also, it has very little smell, outside my garage, you could not tell I was painting. And...

Testing with Duplicolor Paint Shop paint.

I did some practice this weekend, and made up a test panel with the etch, primer, base, and clear I will be painting my car with, I also wanted to get a feel for my paint gun, and how the paint sprays out and behaves. I learned a lot. The gun I have I bought a few years ago, HVLP, it needs 8.4...

Help me chose my color, red or black?

I have chosen to go with a NON black interior for a few reasons. 1. I live in Texas, its just too hot for black interiors. 2. White is too hard to keep clean. 3. Red looks badass with a Black car and Red stripe.

    Pop It Out?

try pushing on it by hand to pop it out, but don't force it. If you don't know whatn you are doing, then you can make the rest of the roof worse. You can also fill it with a quality filler if its not too deep (less than 1/4"). Use Evercoat Featherlite for filling it.

Help me chose my color, red or black?

A couple of reasons. 1. My painting skills are limited, metallics take considerable talent, which I don't have yet. And I cant afford to pay someone to paint my car. 2. The car is a 6cyl car, not worth restoring to original, so I am going to paint it whatever looks best. If it was a 340 or...

GTS tail stripes on gold 1969 Dart

Even better, my buddy had a 70 Roadrunner that was Gold with the black hood stripe, and the gold and black interior, that was real sharp. He hated the color, but I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. It was basically how they set up a white interior car, with black trim, but the major...

Need help with 68 Dart stripe.

I need some help, I need some measurements, if you have the bumble bee stripe on your Dart. I am going to paint the stripes onto my dart, under the clear. I need to know specifically, how far forward they start from the back of the quarter panel, and what are the with of the strips and the gaps...

Help me chose my color, red or black?

OK, I have been killing myself trying to make this decision, and I still can't decide. I want to get your opinions please. If it is Black, then it will have a Red stripe and red interior. If it is red, then it will have a white stripe and either a red or black interior. Choice 1: Choice 2:
