What size driver (or socket) to install tail shaft seal on a 904?

Unknown, all I know is my son sent me a picture of the seal hanging around the yolk, lol… I said, that’s not good.

What size driver (or socket) to install tail shaft seal on a 904?

Odd question, but I'm driving 13 hours to go fix my son's truck (and car), and one of the things I know it needs (among many things) is a new seal on the tail shaft of the transmission. I just wanted to be sure I have all the right tools before I make a fast trip. Thanks in advance.

    340 to 727 Strut Brackets

My car takes WAY more abuse than what Chrysler original intended for their cars, and I can say that with a 600hp small block stroker, racing every weekend, clicking off low 10 second passes AND driving on the street every weekend....you just don't need them....but to each their own.

    340 to 727 Strut Brackets

Unless you are doing a restoration, they are not needed....I took mine off ~ 28 years ago and never looked back.

TCI 727 Torqueflite race trans (pn. 890-112000)

5k too high for the strip....WHAT?!?! Have you been to a drag strip? Almost every fast (or relativly fast) NA car I know at the strip has at LEAST a 4500 stall (most are 5000-5500) There must have been something else wrong with the trans. "rev high enough to hit stall"....I don't think you...

TCI 727 Torqueflite race trans (pn. 890-112000)

Dear lord there is a lot of miss-information on this thread from folks that have probably never had an 8" converter. Yes, you can drive a "5k" converter on the street...and NO, it is not too much if you have a good converter and a properly setup car. For what its worth: My street/strip...

    Tranny blanket

I have universal from RCI, it fits OK...long straps, and my headers hit part of it (had to cut a chunk out so I didn't burn them up)....good ole universal fit....one size fits nothing...lol.

    4.30 vs 4.56 gear

I would go with 4.10's personally (that is what I run with my 408 small block). Works great for 1/8 mile and just barely works for 1/4 (hits the stripe @ 7100 ish)....this is with my 6.5 @104 1/8 mile 10.3 @ 130 1/4 mile street car.

    Burnout technique A999 trans

You can absolutely start the burnout in 1st (I used to all the time), just don't left off the gas until after you shift into 2nd, or 3rd....my 2 cents on the subject.

    8 3/4 axle upgrade question

I put 35 spline Moser Axles in mine, they work great....and I beat the crap out of my car on a regular basis. Edit: Also mini-tubbed, stock width, 15x10 rims, just changed the back spacing to make the tires go under the car. Added a pic of each end of the car just for grins.

    8 3/4 install?

I did mine by myself by putting the rear under the car on jack stands (a little high), install the springs, then lower the rear down onto the springs....one man job.:toothy7:

Will launching in second gear hurt my 727 trans?

I originally posted this in the racing section, but only got 1 reply. So, I'm trying it here. For all you transmission experts....will launching my car (at the track) in second gear hurt the transmission, or will it just build a little more heat? This is on a small block 727, 8" converter...
