Use the old ONLY if it's real nice and pliable, not sure I made that clear in my first post. New lock strip is usually needed but not always and should work fine in the old gasket.

A lot depends on the condition of the originals. If they are clean, or can be cleaned, aren't ripped, cut or worn out and are still soft, I'd use them. In a lot of cases the originals are a better fit. I'm not sure of the availability of new gaskets for your car so I'm assuming there are some...

I like them. They are vintage parts and it's not like they are non functional. To me it makes the car more useful.

If anyone near IL needs inner fenders, trunk floor, deck lid, rocker panels and maybe some floor sections off a 65 Dart let me know, I've had the parts from a parted car for years. Most everything is rust free. I won't ship the big parts, so you'll have to plan a trip.

There's a good chance that car has the alum. block /6. A friend of mine had two 62 Lancers, one a GT and one a 4 door sean. BOth had that engine in it. Not good for racing or much else but it's one very cool little engine.

WOW! Great news. Congrats are in order. That is one nice car and what makes it even more special is that it is probably one of the nicest early A's out there and everyone proved it for you.

Again , it sounds high, but we havent seen pics and we don't know to much about it. They are cool cars and if it's not a rust bucket, you would probably be very happy with it. If that is the car you want, I'd shop around a bit before making the guy an offer.
