    Wheel spin

If I was trying to hook this car up, I'd move the battery to the trunk first then do what ever your going to do withthe rear springs. I'd make sure the pinion angle is correct, add a pinion snubber set correctly meaning down for autocross, up for drag, then play with the rear shock adjustment. I...

Sub-frame connectors... Please build them correctly!

Looks like the answer is personal preference without any data to back things up. Suits me, I was hoping somebody out of 40K members had found or did some testing and would be able to share.

Sub-frame connectors... Please build them correctly!

To say these cars were poorly built does not take into account how they are designed to fold up to dissipate energy. To add all the strength of these mods defeats the manufactures design. Having said this, I don't care and welded in US Car Tool ties and will be adding torque boxes. I believe...

    Hotchkis frame connectors

It may work, but I wouldn't trust them. I bought a set of Mopar Performance and sent them right back. Spindly looking with no serious strength benefit that I could tell. Ended up buying US Car Tool weld in set, much better. They look like they were meant to be there.

WHAT SHOCKS TO BUY: KYB VS Monroe VS Bilstein's

Did Bilstien ever make a shock to fit the A-body line? If they did, anybody know the old stock part #s. I saw a members car on here that was in one of the rod magazines, it was about handling and had Bils shocks on it. The article was from the early 2000's era.

    Subframe connectors

Mine are weld ins that fit the profile of the floor. The car was raised 24" and stands place as far outboard as possible on the rear axle and under the ball joints in the front. The car was then jounced to settle the suspension and let to set on the stands until I was able to weld them in. My...

I'm about ready to weld in the US Car Tool frame ties. A couple of pics of the fitment. These ties are being held in place by a single metal screw at each end. No grinding, fit perfect. caster problems

You don't "need" a rack to do the adjustments but by the time you've leveled, squared, checked ride height and wheel runout just to start the alignment, a rack starts looking pretty easy to work with. Also if there is a problem, setup and readjusting is very quick. A magnetic hub guage will...

    caster problems

Not everybody has the time, expertise or tools to do this type work. I was a B&A tech for several companies in the 70's/80's and I wouldn't do my own alignment today without a rack. It's nearly impossible to get an alignment right without squaring the car. Its alright if you just want to set...

Or you could find a tech in your area that knows what he's doing and can diagnose and repair. Look for a company with a frame rack and does a good job. Ask around at several quality body shops.

US CAR TOOL Frame Connector Questions

Thanks guys!! Great pictures and sweet install. I knew there would be mods to fit the floor and have not run any lines or exhaust yet because of all the unknowns. Hoping to get them installed pretty soon so I can do all the rest.
