Noisy... dont add that much vacuum assist. Not worth the time or money.... Hydraboost or manual brakes with matching master and calipers.

    Disc Brake Conversion Help

The CPP kits use a GM style prop valve. Your gonna need to either get adapter fittings or get the right fittings and flare new ends. The rear is usually for a 1/4" line. Cant you run a die down the threads of the bolt? You can use a grade 8, but stick to fine thread. There is no shoulder on the...

    Grinding noise 68 cuda

Find out if noise goes away with light to medium pressure on the brakes. This will help narrow down the problem. I totally agree with the backing plate issue. I have seen that too many times over the years.

    Proportioning valve install or not?

Keep in mind I was suggesting a piece of pipe. Maybe 6" long at best. I got my piece as scrap from a hardware store.

    Proportioning valve install or not?

Take a piece of say 2" pipe as a mandrel and make an "S" curve out of the rear line just enough to shorten it to where you can now plumb in an adj prop valve. Much easier than trying to get a factory valve to fit...

    Hydroboost braking systems

You just use stock PS stuff, but none of the lines run to a box.

Looking for advice on disc brake purchase

ALL a bodies up to 72 used kelsey hayes calipers. Price sounds good. WHat's nice is your getting a COMPLETE setup.

    Hydroboost braking systems

A big block has the PS pump mount higher than in a small block. I would just add it in and keep manual steering. Just a matter of hose routing.

    Hydroboost braking systems

Sure. My only opinion is to get all new. I would never trust used brake parts from a JY. JMO. I end up ordering all my stuff thru a chevy dealer that is a dealer for hydroboost and it saves alot of headaches. A hydroboost is one of the best upgrades I have ever done to a customers brake...

Who sells crossover brakeline for KH calipers?

Not everyone has a good bender and flaring tool.

Who sells crossover brakeline for KH calipers?

I use RSD as well...plus they make them in stainless.

    brake issue

It shouldn't matter if they are sliders or pin type. They just need the corresponding spindle bracket. I have the sliders on my cuda with the 11.75 rotors from a cordoba.

best place to get complete brake line set

I use Right Stuff Detailing, but all of the manufacturers are fine. There are 2 different lines available for a body 8.75 rears. It's all in the location of the brass block, which is about 1 -2 inches from each other. With the wilwoods up front you can still use stock lines and an AN adaptor...

sbp wheels cause high brake temp?

The mounting tabs I believe are the same, but since the KH calipers are 2 piece, the opposing half may be different. It's been a while since I have seen them side by side. I don't think corvette or mustang calipers will simply just bolt on.

sbp wheels cause high brake temp?

That answer of his has got be near the top of the funny list.... FYI-- mustangs, corvettes, and a bodies all shared the same KH calipers, although some had banjo fittings and some had straight hose fittings. They were a 2 piece caliper. ALL streetable rotors are VENTED.

Need opinion on this disk brake conversion

CPP is reselling MP brake stuff, which is mostly made by MBM... I use CPP all the time for front end stuff. Almost all front end parts are made overseas unless you get Rare Parts items which do cost more.

    Disc Brake Dilemma, need advice

FYI, any car or truck with 10" or 11" LBP drums on an 8.25 or 8.75 rear end will work. I have seen many at junkyards around here.

    What pushrod/plunger to use?

All a body m/c pushrods are the same. Pry the rod out of the hole or cut carefully. the rod has a rubber retainer on the end of it that is holding it in the piston(part with spring.)

    Scarebird disc conversion

The Raybestos MC's I have gotten have the Residual valves. Another route is to buy the RPV's by wilwood and others that are inline. 2lb for disc and 10lb for drum. Remember folks that caliper piston size makes a difference in what MC piston bore size you choose.

    Scarebird disc conversion

They will lock up under hard braking. Drum brake master cylinders have a residual pressure valve in both ports which keep pressure at the wheel cylinders so the shoes stay close to the drum. Plus disc masters have a larger reservoir for the increased size of the fluid capacity in the caliper.

    Scarebird disc conversion

Stupidly enough, all 3 manufacturers made drum brake steel wheels and disc brake steel wheels. You might have disc brake ones on both cars. I for one know that doing a KH style conversion required the disc wheels on a factory drum brake 67 cuda I did. They look pretty much the same but there...

    Hydroboost braking systems

As a person who has installed about 4 or 5 of these, .....THEY ROCK! I have installed them on cars with big aftermarket brakes and on cars with stock front brakes(stock disc for now). Either way the amount of pedal effort dramamtically decreases while the amount of stopping power dramatically...

What size(s) for new steel brake lines?

All are 3/16" for Mopars.. Older GM's used 1/4" to the rear as an aid in proportioning the front/rear brakes.
