I'm curious how you can change intakes a lot w/ studs? As this is a 318 (not 5.2L) the studs wouldn't be vertical ... Edelbrock 2176 doesn't have provisions for bolting to Magnum heads.
Maybe I'm missing something ...
I love using studs in place of bolts whenever I can; however, it adds one more step if you ever decide to replace the intake ... they go in at an angle & would need to be removed (not just the nuts / washers) before you could lift it off the heads.
I really wish Chrysler would have left it:
- carbureted ... LA engine,
- fuel injected ... Magnum engine,
and never mixed them up like in that late 80's early 90's era!!
Thanks for all of your responses folks!!
I've got a very low mileage 318 '89 roller cam / lifters & there's a fellow looking for a stock cam for his '94 5.2L Magnum. I told him he could have these but then got wondering if the cam is compatible w/ the newer engine. So it's out of a fuel injected LA 318 & hopefully going into a fuel...
I have a 318 camshaft & roller lifters out of a 1989 B250. I know these engines are kind of in a grey era ... between a carbureted LA engine & a fuel injected Magnum 5.2L.
My question is: will this cam & lifter setup bolt right into a Magnum engine & if so, are there any modifications that...
I agree; however, taking into account the rocker ratio (1.6 for me) that gives 0.075" ... I may have been a bit off on the number of turns ... maybe it was 1 1/4 which wouldresult in ).083" lash at the valve.
The cam card states for "Standard lifter pre-load" so I guess that's a bit subjective.
These numbers don't show up in the charts I know of to ID Mopar heads ... maybe there's others though.
