    External balance flywheel ID

@GeorgeJets - build plate/Vin identified car as a Canadian built 318 4spd as you suggest. Was hoping I could say for certain this was for an external balance 360. Since I can't I'll count it as usable on any small block only after having it balanced to the rotating assembly it will be mated...

    External balance flywheel ID

Agree with all so far, however was hoping for something more definitive. Looked on Mc Leod's website earlier today and found no visual matches. I'm leaning toward aftermarket due to zero cast in Mopar part numbers or identifiers. It is older, been in shed for a decade or so.

    External balance flywheel ID

I removed this flywheel from an externally balanced '77 Volare with a 360 HP. However, in comparing it to pics of other 130 tooth flywheels for externally balanced 360's I did not see the characteristic three round shallow holes on the backside. It does have a series of drilled holes on the...

    Heavy or lightweight flywheel?

I could not agree more with 33IMP's words of advice. Like him I loved my aluminum flywheel on the street but ran a narrower tire than I might have otherwise so they would spin a bit and NOT hook. But at the track my 2.5L SL6 just nosed over and stumbled with the slicks on it and that aluminum...

    10.5" flywheel for a slant 6?

@kesteb - I used a big block scattershield, like Hyperpak did on his recently completed Lancer wagon. I agree with those who told you that putting the heavy cast iron truck bell housing in your Dart for the 143 tooth flywheel would require a lot of metal work. That thing is a beast both in size...

    @ kesteb - a '62 valiant hardtop.

    10.5" flywheel for a slant 6?

If it's a SL6 flywheel and 130 teeth I agree with others that it's out of a truck that had the granny gear four speed behind the slant as others have stated. I've never seen a SL6 OD with anything other than a 122 tooth flywheel regardless of the body/year it was installed in. And every V8 OD...

    A855 - 5 Speed

I got on the waiting list on 9/20/2013 (just looked it up in my old emails) and received an email acknowledgement thanking me for my interest and stating price w/shifter and stating they would soon be letting the first 350 units made out the door. Asked for an update 5 years ago (6/14/15) after...

    Street Clutch Recommendtions

I recently installed a Ram clutch in my stock 318 V8 pickup. It's their 11"? (slightly larger than stock 10.5") borg and beck style clutch, P/N 88773. I purchased the 2800# pressure plate and it works fine and it feels just as light as any diaphram style, stock or hipo, I've ever driven. They...

    Clutch linkage Clips?

I agree with daves69, that's how I've always installed them.

    Strange rubbing noise

After thinking about this could it be a dry pilot shaft bushing? With clutch not engaged/ pedal depressed tranny input shaft would not be rotating while crank would be if engine is running. T/O bearing off clutch fork very possible as others have suggested.

    Strange rubbing noise

New or not, based on description of when it occurs, only with clutch depressed, it sounds like it's throwout bearing related.

    Z-Bar fatigue

Not all that uncommon with heavy use and/or stronger pressure plate springs. I've broken several of these over the years but in my cases it was usually the long arm breaking off the tube rather that the tube failing as in your case. Sadly the welds on these assemblies are not that consistent...

    wierdest clutch I ever saw

Thank for the responses. I had no idea they were commonplace as I'd never seen one. That AMC clutch assy looks pretty wild. Still fondly remember my '62 rambler american "twin stick" equipped car.

    wierdest clutch I ever saw

Attached is a pic of the oddest looking pressure plate, a 9" slant 6 type, that I ever saw. You'd think in 30+ years and at least 100 clutch changes this would have come up before. Does anyone know what this odd ball is?
