    904 Power limit?

I own a 904 that is in my Duster, before it was freshened up it was in another car that went 9.15, then hot lapped and went 9.14. There's nothing stock in it but it gives an idea of what a built one can do. It's set up to rob less power than most powerglides and doesn't get hot. I'm lovin the thing.

    Shim converter??

Nothing is bent. It's a B&M flex plate and a turbo action converter with the ford style hub (2 machined flat spots rather than slots) The trans is a built 904. The reason I did it is because the man I bought it from told me to watch how far the converter pulls forward so it doesn't pull out of...

    Shim converter??

So do any of you guys ever shim the converter if when you go to tighten it up it looks like it wants to pull the converter to the flex plate about 1/8" or so? Putting my scrap back together and I used a spacer that was about 1/16" to take up some gap, haven't slept great since so I have to ask...

    5.9 Magnum to TF904

Yea I know, it's an 03 LB7 with Edge Juice with Attitude, loaded crew with everything but DVD, had 74k on it stole it for $14k. . . Can't get a comparable Cummins for that kinda money around here and the Cummins' trans wouldn't handle the almost 900lb ft I can put through the Allison with the...

    5.9 Magnum to TF904

Gotcha, couldn't remember what the deal was, lol we got a D-max with an Allison trans and haven't looked back since. I didn't realize that magnum 318s and magnum 360's were balanced differently I thought by then it was the same but like I said IDK much about magnums lol

    tranny failures need some info

Sounds strange. You could try and call Turbo Action, I know the older valve bodies use a different design than the newer TB valve bodies, can't remember what the change was anymore but maybe TB would have some info for you, I've heard they are easy to deal with and helpful.

    5.9 Magnum to TF904

I don't have much experience with the magnum motors and the flexplates but I did have to swap a trans in our old 98 ram 360 4x4, the new trans was from a 318 truck and I think I remember finding out that the flexplates on those have to stay with the converter, not with the motor to balance that...

    8 3/4 questions

If it's had perches welded on to it and the weld beads are pretty big it may hve warped the axle tube between the perch and axle flange, if so the seal on that side will most likely leak no matter what you do (trust me I've had this issue) So it doesn't hurt to bring a straight edge and chck a...

What flex plate do I need here guys?

I've got an internally balanced 340 with an aftermarket 8 bolt crank and a converter with the larger "hemi" bolt size. I believe the bolts are on a 10" bolt circle but I can't remember for sure (it's a 10" coan# 40312) So would the B&M flexplate work? here I copied it. IDK what the small bolt...

    A518 behind a 440?

Try and get a hold of a company/shop called Tranz Tech I think they are from Iowa they do a lot with the 518's including putting on some solenoid system for the OD or something that a buddy was telling me about. Sorry I don't have any contact info for you but from what I've heard they are the...

Do i have Manual valve body ??

to me they look identical out of the trans. 74scamp360, one way to tell since yours is in the trans is to take it out and when you do there's a spring about 1 1/4" round that sits in a kind of "cup" area in the trans and is sandwiched in by the valve body, I've only been around Turbo Action...

    Axle bearing kit

From what I've heard they are pretty good. I've heard you shouldn't let them sit without lube for too long and they're supposed to be better if your running back wheels with a lot of back space like I have on my mini tubbed duster. A friend of mine recomends 4 tac welds on the ring that holds...

    Converter Manufacturer Choice

I really like my 10" Coan Converter 3-3500 stall part 40312. It's a little bit looser than I had hoped but I can live with it for the launch it gave me and being able to sit at a light better. It was about $610 for the converter and I paid $25 for the new bolt hardware, I'd suggest new bolts...

8.75 Sure Grip Spline Alignment Help

I had this problem with my 489 case. I got the axle into the first set of splines then used a steel bar in between the studs to turn the axle and outer set of splines while pushig on the axle. I think i had the trans in park to keep the yoke from turning. Hope this helps you, it worked for me...

    Stumped need help!

Wait, why do you think you need the weights?? I don't really know much about the roller cam stuff, I do know that some late 80's truck motors were roller cams but I think 90 was the last year of that cause my 91 ram has always been a total dog.

Drilling axles small bolt to big bolt safe?

Sorry if I'm bringing back a "dead" thread but I think it's important for you to know that only 6" of the splined end of a stock axle is heat treated for strength. I don't know what kind of power you have but if you cut the C-body axles enough they will be weak at the splined end. You should...
