    Sombody explain what this IS?

Speaking of auto manufacturers using proven parts from larger car companies.. Ferrari 400s used Turbo 400s for the automatic cars. A lot of the owners have now swapped in 700R4s...bolt-in. Rolls used GM trannys, alternators and A/C systems on their cars in the 70s. ...about the only...

    another dead overdrive unit

Propaganda. It is because of the de-arched springs and the reduced suspension travel. Some people said it was the aluminium rims. Huh ?? Some people said the tires were not rated for that kind of weight. Double Huh ??

    another dead overdrive unit

71 Dusterdan, When the R/Ts came out in April 98, a bunch of people bought them because of the 5.9 and 3.92 and the tranny and P/S coolers. Then.... I start hearing rumors on the Dakota R/T Mailing List about DC 'revising' the towing rating on 98 and 99 trucks, and all subsequent R/Ts, to...

Just go to the local dealer a get a bottle or 2 of Mopar Sure-Grip additive. If it was good enuff for the factory, it is good enuff for your car.

    73 Dart Sport Axle Width???

Wife was not wrong, she was mis-informed.....if you know what is good for you !!
  14. yellowdartdave

    73 Dart Sport Axle Width???

It looks way too narrow for the body because it is way too narrow. In 1967, they widened the engine compartment and the whole front end from 55.9 to 59.1 but left the rear end at 55.6. And they left the narrow wheelwells as well. Remember tires back then were only about 5 inches wide.

    8 1/4 Rear End Question

I think it would be a bit shaky, esp if it hooks.
  16. yellowdartdave

    filter change ?

The tranny does not pump in park. When it sits for an extended period of time, the tranny fluid drains out of the torque converter back into the pan. Start it in neutral, let it run for about 15 seconds before putting it in gear. See if that helps.

    8.25-3.21 suregrip

Typical Mopar..... When you put the tranny into reverse, the pinion gear reverses direction on the ring gear. If there is any slop (there always is, even when new) the noise you hear is the pinion gear hitting the back side of the ring gear teeth. Jack the back of the car up, put the tranny in...

    Towing with full floater

Floater axles can be a bear to get popped out of diff. on big rigs. Sometimes it is easier to just drop the driveshaft.

    Type F fluid in 727

The clunking is the driveline slop in the rear end. With the new tranny, it engages a bit harder. Jack the rear end up, hold the brake and drop it in gear, esp reverse. Watch how much the driveshaft turns before it stops. And don't get too excited......they did it when the car was new.
